“I’m celebrating with a margarita.” I smile.

“Good idea.” He disappears to the bar, and I sit alone at the table and have a mini meltdown. I can’t believe that just happened.

He liked me being called his wife. This is progress.

This is big!

Huge.

He arrives back at the table with our two drinks and slides mine over to me and holds his up. I clink my glass with his and take a sip. “Thank you.”

I mutter into my glass, “I don’t know if you realize what you’ve gotten yourself into by taking me to Thailand.”

“Why is that?”

“I’m a stripper in Thailand, you know?”

His eyebrow raises as if impressed. “Really?”

“Uh-huh.” I smirk, proud of myself.

He sips his margarita. “Well, anal with a stripper, I’m good with that.”

I cough-snort my drink through my nose. “Aah . . . no. Your stripper does not do that.”

His eyes twinkle with mischief. “Why is that?”

“I’ve never done that.”

“What?”

I shake my head.

“What . . . never?” He frowns, fascinated.

I shake my head, and I get the feeling I just put a target on my ass . . . literally.

He smirks and holds his glass up in a silent toast to me, and I feel myself blush as I imagine him going there. He’s way too big for that . . . I can’t even . . . I would end up in the hospital, surely.

Jeez.

I need to change the subject. “Where are we sitting on the plane?”

“Up front, business.”

“We’re flying business class?” I squeak.

He kisses my fingertips. His sexy eyes linger on mine. “Only the best for my wife.”

I look to the gate impatiently. “We’re going to miss it.” People have been lining up and getting on our plane.

Henley is reading the paper, in no rush whatsoever. “We are not going to miss it.”

“If we miss it . . .”

He rolls his eyes and keeps reading.

I watch as more people board. “Henley . . .”

“I don’t like boarding a plane too early.”

“Why not?”

“Because you are on there long enough. Have patience, woman.”

I exhale heavily. If we miss it, I’m going to go feral. Over the next fifteen minutes, I watch as the line dwindles. “Last boarding call for flight 282 to Phuket.”

I widen my eyes impatiently.

“Now we can go.” He stands and leads me over to the boarding gate; we pass the flight attendant our tickets, and she scans them. “Hello, Mr. James, welcome aboard.” She smiles at me. “Hello.”

“Hi.” I beam. Thank god. Just get me on the plane already. We walk down the corridor to the plane. “I’m nervous,” I whisper as I grab Henley’s hand.

“What for?”

“I’ve never flown business before.”

“That makes you nervous?” He frowns as we walk onto the plane.

“Uh-huh.”

“Weirdo,” he mouths.

“Mr. James, this is you.” She gestures to a chair in the front. “And this is you, Miss Drinkwater.” I look down at the two wide leather seats in their own cubicle thingy. There’s a fancy screen between our two chairs.

“Thank you.” I smile. She goes to serve someone else, and my eyes flick to Henley.

He frowns in question.

“There’s a glass screen between us,” I whisper as I look around at the other seats.

“Yes, some planes have this seating configuration,” he replies.

“I would’ve rather been in cattle class, where I can sit next to you.”

He takes my bag from me and puts it in the overhead. “I’ll be on top of you for ten days. Enjoy the peace.” He kisses me quickly and sits me down. “Fasten your seat belt,” he instructs.

I roll my eyes and do as I’m told.

He takes his book and sits in the seat beside me. Even though he is close, I can’t touch him at all.

Ugh . . . stop it, Juliet. Can you hear how needy you’re being? The world won’t fall apart because you can’t touch your boyfriend for one measly flight.

Boyfriend.

A thrill runs through me. I still can’t believe everything that has happened in such a short time, but then it feels like we’ve been together forever at the same time.

Strange but surreal.

The flight attendant comes around with a silver platter. “Can I offer you a glass of champagne or an orange juice?”

“Oh.” In a real glass too. “Champagne, please.” I take it and hunch my shoulders in excitement. I glance over, and Henley gives me a sexy wink.

I sit back and smile. Bring it on.

The drone in the background is a constant hum. Everyone else on the plane seems to be in deep relaxation mode.

Me, not so much.

I’ve watched two movies and tossed and turned. I attempted to watch a third movie but was unable to concentrate, so I stopped it after fifteen minutes.

I hate sitting still.

I look over at Henley; he’s still reading the same book he has been for hours. He turns the page, completely absorbed. How does he concentrate for so long?
