He laughs. “I’m not letting you walk around in that fucker, or I’ll end up in jail today. Now come give me a kiss before we have to hurry up and get ready.”

“Yeah. I can’t believe check out is so early.”

“No. We’re just going somewhere, and we can’t be late.”

“Where?”

“On vacation.”

Okay, this man has lost it. From what I’ve learned he hasn’t had a vacation in forever. “Vacation?”

“Yes, I need to make some decisions and I need you with me while I make them. So, we’re going to head out on a vacation while I decide.”

I twist my lips and glare at him, crossing my arms over my chest. “Do you think I should have been made aware of this?”

“I just made you aware of it.”

I don’t know where we’re going, but I have a feeling it’s not going to be somewhere in the country. “I don’t have a passport.”

“I got you one last night.”

“What?”

“Yes. Before you ask, I have my ways, or my lawyer does.”

“Is that why you had me leave yesterday?”

“Yes and no. Lacey, when you’re around, I can’t concentrate. All I want to do is kiss and fuck you. I shouldn’t have made you my assistant when all I want is you planted on my desk with your thighs opened for my feasting pleasure, but the thought of you working for another man pissed me off.”

“Is that why you were so grumpy?” I shouldn’t be turned on, but I am.

“Um… yeah.” My phone buzzes on the nightstand and we both turn our heads to look at it from a distance.

“That’s probably your bestie, Casey. She called and texted twice this morning. I told her that you were sleeping and safe, but she wants to hear from you.”

“Okay.”

“Eat and call her. I have some things to handle before we leave.” He kisses my lips and then pulls away. I walk over to the nightstand and grab my phone to see the text from Casey and respond. Give me five minutes, and I’ll call you.

I type in the name of the medicine that I found in his bag, and it’s used to treat migraines. “Oh shit.”

My heart breaks for him as I sit on the bed, trying to bite into the egg and sausage sandwich he brought me. A smile spreads over my face loving that he knows what I like for breakfast.

That explains his resting in his office and his random grumpiness. My eyes begin to tear up, remembering that I was teasing him for sleeping. Lincoln didn’t have a business call that day. He used that as an excuse to let the pain subside.

“My flower, why are you upset?” He’s on the bed, sliding his arms around me. Damn, I never hear that man approaching.

I set down my food onto the nightstand and then cup his face. “Why didn’t you tell me you have headaches?”

“How did you find out?”

“Your toiletry bag in the bathroom. I was nosy.”

“Oh, well. I was planning to tell you. It’s not like I shout it out that I have a lot of migraines. It’s not something people want to hear about their president and owner of the company.”

“True, I suppose.”

“Look, I’ve tried different things to get better. My doctor thinks I need to reduce my stress. Because my father died from having a heart attack at my age.” I gasp and cling to him. He nips at my lips before pulling back to say, “My lawyer wants me to go on vacation and see if that makes them better. I know already that I woke up feeling like a king, so maybe part of his advice worked.”

“What other advice did he give you?” I raise one brow up at him while he smirks.

“To get laid.” His hand slides between my bare thighs, massaging them.

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah. It surely helped, but I still must test the theory for the next fifty-plus years.” He rubs his chin like he’s considering the potential treatment.

“Fifty? That’s an extensive study.”

“It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. What about you?”

My eyes move to his pants and see how tented they are. “I don’t know. My hips will definitely need replacing by then.”

“Well, we can cross that bridge when we get there.” He winks and I let out a giggle. “I’m madly in love with you, Lacey. I want you to know that I’m sorry that I was such a dick.” He wasn’t that bad actually, just a tough boss with apparently a jealous streak.

“I happened to enjoy that dick from time to time.”

A knock at the door interrupts our kisses. “Sir, it’s almost time to leave.”

“Okay. We’re on our way.”

“Get moving, woman. We have a flight to catch.”

“I don’t have any clothes packed.”

“Already done, my flower.”

He hands me a small travel bag. “Are you telling me you broke into my apartment?”
