“And the last time, Lacey. Besides, you got caught in the rain today, if you forgot.” Hell, I hadn’t forgotten, considering I was still wearing my jacket. “Now you can get your things, and my driver will take you home.”

She leaves my office, and then just as I pull out my cell phone, she tucks her head in the doorway. “Will he know to be waiting for me?”

“Yes, I’m calling him now. Get your things while I gather mine and wait for me by the elevator.” Her lips parted with a bit of surprise and concern, but she was wise enough to keep her thoughts to herself.

I make her nervous which is understandable since I’ve been a prick half the time and, in her space, the other half. We’ve only had a few hours in each other’s company since she started. Still, if she knew how much I wanted her, she’d file a complaint against me.

“Greg, meet Ms. Flowers and me in the parking garage. From now on, you will be taking her to and from work every day.”

“Will I be picking you up before or after, Sir?”

“I may just drive myself into the office.”

“Very well, Mr. Hardwick. I will be waiting.” I end the call and gather my things. Normally I wouldn’t leave for another two hours, but there’s something possessive inside of me that demands to be the first to see her home.

A minute later, I’m leaving my office and locking the door only to stop in my tracks and stare at my assistant, who is still at her desk. “Are you ready?” I ask, watching her standing against her desk and typing on her phone.

“Oh, yes. Just shooting a quick message. You know you don’t have to escort me home, Mr. Hardwick.”

“It’s Lincoln, Lacey.”

She nods, and I lead the way to the elevator. The ride down feels like the longest trip in the world when I find myself unable to say anything personal like I want to do. Three women stepped into the elevator on the tenth floor. They smiled at Lacey, and then blushed when they looked at me. Fuck, I hoped to hell my leather bag covered my crotch.

We arrive in the garage where Greg is waiting for us. I open the back door and let her slide in first before climbing in behind her. Reading her address off my phone to Greg, he nods and then heads onto the road.

“So you have your own set of admirers, Mr. Hardwick.”

“Yes, well money is a big appeal.”

“That’s all some men have to offer.” Did she just imply all I have to offer is money? I didn’t know how to respond to her without giving away my emotions, so for the rest of the ride we’re both silent until I drop her off.

“Good night, Ms. Flowers.”

“Good night, Lincoln.” The sound of my name from her lips gets me hard on the spot. I grunt and watch her walk up to her apartment. I’d escort her, but my current state is more than noticeable.

Chapter Six

Lacey

I roll my neck, stretching it after having a fitful night of sleep again. Dreaming of Lincoln is going to send me into the depths of insanity.

I give Max a pat on his head after filling his bowls with food and water. Dressed and ready to go, I practically pop down the stairs to get

“Good morning, Greg.” I greet my driver as I walk past the open passenger door and hop inside.

“Good morning, Ms. Flowers. Are you ready?” He smiles brightly and I like him. He’s big and burly, and about a decade older than Lincoln.

“Am I ever ready to deal with Mr. Hardwick?” I mutter. Greg takes me home every evening and I always look frazzled.

“I suppose that’s true. I picked up your breakfast.”

“Thank you, that’s so sweet.” He hands me the Dunkin Donuts bag with the croissant sandwich. He nods and drives without another word. It’s the second time he’s brought me breakfast in the past two days. “You know I don’t need to have breakfast.”

“Mr. Hardwick says it’s good for you.” He does whatever Mr. Hardwick says, annoying me because I only let the bastard control my workday. Okay, that’s a bit of a lie because when I’m home, all alone, I think about him, touch myself, dreaming of Lincoln holding and dominating me.

“He doesn’t know everything, you know?” I huff before taking a bite out of my sandwich. Damn, it’s good and just what I needed this morning. Although, I’d never tell either of them.

“Well, I agree with him on this. Besides, he has a very busy day which means so will you.” I stick my tongue out, making him chuckle and then go back to eat my awesome hot breakfast. We move smoothly and safely through the city streets toward the office, when I notice that there’s an accident ahead.
