I now had two women to protect. And I would—endlessly.

Brianna came beside me, slipping her arm around my waist. “How’s our girl?”

“Perfect.”

She laughed softly, trailing a finger down Melody’s cheek.

“Ready to have another one yet?” I asked.

She peered at me, shaking her head.

“We make beautiful babies. I think we should have three really fast. Let them be close.”

“Forget it, old man. I’ve barely recovered from this one. We just started having sex again.”

“Don’t say that word in front of Melody.”

I loved her name. She was my heart’s music. When Brianna had suggested it, it fit her perfectly.

Brianna laughed. “She can’t understand us.”

“She needs a brother.”

“Did she tell you this?”

“In her own unique way, yes.”

“I think you misheard her. Your hearing and all.”

I put my lips to Brianna’s ear. “You trying to rile me up, Little Bee?”

She shivered.

“You want me to prove it to you?” I whispered, grinning. She wanted another baby too. She was playing hard to get. Riling me up so I’d show her who was boss.

“Prove what? That your sperm are still viable?”

She gasped as I swung her into my arms. “I’m going to show you how viable, Little Bee. Twice. Let’s hope Melody cooperates. If not, I’ll get a nanny in here and kidnap you for a few hours.”

She smiled up at me. “It won’t be the first time.”

I kissed her. “Or the last.”

She snuggled against my chest. “Okay. As long as it’s you. My favorite kidnapper.”

“Damn right.”

I carried her to our room, tossing her playfully onto the bed. I hovered over her. “I have you at my mercy now, little prisoner. Trapped in my lair. What will you do?”

She played with my hair, her smile filled with love.

“I’ll have to endure. I think I can handle it for a hundred years or so.”

“That’s a start.”

“I love you,” she whispered.

I covered her mouth with mine.

“I love you, Little Bee. Always.”
