I laugh. “I believe you.”
“I’ll be right out here waiting,” Micah says. “And when you’re done, we’re going out for a celebratory drink.”
“That sounds like a plan.”
I follow Marcy out of the waiting room and head down the corridor toward the recovery rooms to see my wife and to meet my daughter. Life is strange. Unexpected. It’s got moments defined by terror. But it also has moments defined by extraordinary beauty. I didn’t understand that until I met Harlow. It’s just one of the many ways she’s changed my life, the way I see the world around me, and even how I see myself.
I don’t know why I’ve been so blessed to have had such an angel come into my life. But I’m grateful. And like I told Micah once, I would be a fool if I didn’t hold on and not let go. And that’s my plan. As long as there is breath in my lungs, I’m going to hold on to Harlow and our kids as tight as I can and never let them go.
