“Um, so does that mean that you want an open relationship?” I ask in a choked voice. “Are you saying you want to date other women too?”

Chris chuckles deep in his chest but then his voice goes low.

“No, absolutely not, honey.” He shakes his head vehemently. “Never. You’re the only woman in the world for me, Patty.”

My heart slams in my chest as I stare at him.

“And you’re the only man I want, Chris. I mean that honestly, so where is this coming from? Why are you giving me the go-ahead to date another man?”

He sighs and runs a hand through his black hair, making it stand up on end. “I’m not explaining this right. Damn, this is complicated.” But then, he leans forward and holds my hand between his big ones, his gaze intensely blue. “Patty, you have to understand that I know you love me. I know you’re a good woman. But I also know that you have a lot of love to give, and I respect that.”

I nod silently, waiting for him to go on. He inhales deeply once more. “I don’t want us to have an open relationship or take a break or anything like that,” he growls. “I just want you to date Chase because well, you’re a sensuous woman and exactly the type that we like to share.”

I jerk back in surprise.

“What?”

He nods slowly. “You know that I’ve known Chase for a long time now. Our friendship goes way back and we know each other well.”

I nod hesitantly.

“Yes, but—”

Chris continues.

“I’m just saying that I know you’ve never done anything like this before. But Chase and I have.”

I tilt my head at him, trying not to show my shock. “What do you mean?”

He shrugs, those blue eyes hesitant.

“We’ve shared a woman before, that’s all. Now hold on, don’t look so surprised. It was a long time before I met you, I promise. But it was something that both I and Chase enjoyed, and I think it’s something both of you would appreciate, seeing the sparks in the air.”

I can hardly believe I’m hearing this.

“But what does sharing a woman mean?” I stammer in a whisper.

Chris nods.

“It can mean a lot of things and to be honest because Chase and I have never really discussed the parameters with any of the women that we dated. But in broad strokes, what it means is that the three of us enjoy each other. He and I don’t touch each other,” Chris adds hastily. “We’re not attracted to one another or anything like that. It’s more about the woman, and her enjoyment and pleasure.”

I stare at him. Holy shit, is this really happening?

“You’ve never mentioned this before.”

Chris nods.

“Yes, because it wasn’t relevant, and I wouldn’t have brought it up if there weren’t fireworks between you and Chase. But there are, so I wanted to discuss this option with you. You don’t have to say yes, honey. I completely understand if this disgusts you, and you want to keep things closed with just the two of us.”

I think for a moment. The idea of a threesome is so wild and far-out, and it seems like only something crazy people in Penthouse Letters do. But at the same time, it’s also titillating and the truth is there was a surge of energy between Chase and I. What would it be like to be shared by two alpha males? The possibility makes me shudder and my thighs clench together a bit with need.

“Were you dating her? The woman you shared, I mean,” I ask in a slow tone.

Chris nods. “It was an on again/off again sort of relationship, so yes we dated, but it wasn’t anything serious. But the whole thing ended a long time ago.”

“Oh okay. But were there more women after that?”

Chris hesitates before nodding.

“There were, but there hasn’t been one in a long time now. Chase and I enjoy the female form, and it doesn’t detract from what I feel for you, or our relationship in general. It’s something that should be viewed as an enhancement that can add a new dimension to our interactions.”

I can’t believe this, and merely continue to gaze at him with disbelief.

“Again, you don’t have to say yes,” Chris adds, but I cut him off before he can continue. OMG, my face feels like it could burst into flames right now and the tips of my breasts feel tingly.

“No, I understand what you’re saying. It’s just that … well, won’t you, you know, get jealous? If you see me being intimate with another man?” After all, I know I would be so over the top with rage and insecurity if I saw another woman in Chris’s arms.

He shakes his head slowly. “I’m a very confident alpha male, honey. If anything, I think I’ll be happier if I see you enjoying yourself, and you know what they say: variety is the spice of life.”
