“Very good,” I say to myself as I climb into the Jag.

Apollo revs the engine, then tears out of the Mitchells’ courtyard. He and I understand the faster I get to my next destination, the longer I have to create suffering. My mood turns as black as the night as we get closer to the warehouse.

“Your bag is in the trunk. I sharpened them for you,” Apollo says as he parks in front of the warehouse.

“Thanks.” I look at my watch. “If I’m not out in two hours, come stop me.”

“You got it, boss.”

I step out of the car and grab the bag from the trunk. It’s been so long since I’ve used this bag. However, I’m no stranger to its weight or the objects in it.

I walk into the warehouse and a deep growl rises in the back of my throat as I think of Carleen’s scream over the phone. I stop in front of the sniveling piece of shit in front of me and drop my bag to the ground.

“Vito, how you doing?” I say casually.

He whimpers through the tape over his mouth. “I have no idea why you wanted my attention, but you’ve got it.”

I crouch and unzip my bag to pull out the twin, ornate axes inside. They’re heavy in my palms, but old acquaintances. I stand and turn to face Vito.

While sharpening the blades against each other for good measure, I say, “You know, Jace gave these to me when I was about nine. It was a birthday gift. He gave my twin a blade with matching engravings. It took years for me to grow into these though,” I say and rotate the axes in my hands effortlessly.

I toss one in the air and catch the handle, then point the blade at Vito. Tears fill his eyes. He jerks against the hook and chains he’s hanging from, his arms and legs spread out. He’s at the perfect height to be slaughtered.

“You fucked up. That’s my fiancée you sent those fucks after. I listened to the mother of my child scream as they busted into my place. Now, you’re going to scream for me as I butcher you.”

I move in and tear the tape from his mouth.

“Dario, it wasn’t me. I swear, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t even know how I ended up here. Gio asked me to meet with Dante. I thought they wanted to renegotiate terms or something. Business has been up. I got there and some guys ambushed me. Please don’t do this,” he cries.

“Why do I not care about a single lie coming out of your filthy mouth?” I snort, looking down my arm at my blade.

I drop both arms to my sides and rock back on my heels as I glare in his eyes. This motherfucker farts, before shitting himself. I pull a face, looking at him in disgust.

“I’m a made man,” he sobs. “You can’t do this. My father is going to have your head. Your whole family will have to answer for this.”

“Say something I actually care about if you must speak.”

“I swear, man. I wasn’t going to give you guys up to the feds. I never mentioned your family. I swear,” he sobs.

I furrow my brows. Rage fills me. If it weren’t for the feds, I’d be back home by now, and Carleen wouldn’t have been alone to begin with.

“Wrong shit to say,” I growl and swing at the joint of his right shoulder, severing the arm from his torso.

His howls are like music to my ears. I hum to myself as I cut into his left hip next. He’s only held up by his left arm and right leg now. His screams get louder.

“Shut the fuck up,” I bellow, spit flying from my mouth. My chest heaves as I rotate my wrists with the axes in my hold.

I drop them and go for one of my knives to cut his tongue out of his head. Fucking rat. I pry his mouth open with a mouth gag and grab his tongue with pliers. I chop his tongue out with one swift slice.

“My knife skills are still award winning. Don’t you think?” I slap his cheek as he gargles on his own blood. “That will teach you to keep your fucking mouth shut.”

An hour later, I’m covered in blood as I whistle and grind this cocksucker up in the meat grinder. I let the ground meat fill sausage casings to send to his family.

Footsteps grab my attention, I look up to find a woman walking toward me in high heels, her hips swaying. She’s on the tall side. Her dark hair is pulled into a messy bun on top of her head and her green eyes stand out in her pretty mocha-colored face. Her full lips turn up into a smile.
