Jeremiah nods and gets a contemplative look in his eye.

“Yeah, and I understand the risk, so I don’t go as often as I used to because obviously, it’s dangerous being in the public eye. As a political candidate, I can’t afford to have this get out, because imagine the headlines. Well, maybe it would be par for the course, seeing that this is politics,” he snorts in a wry tone.

I nod.

“I know, right?” I nod in agreement. “It would be exactly in line with what we know about politicians already,” I tease. “The people in power are scandalous and think they can get away with anything. But let me ask you this: what draws you to glory holes? I mean, there are lots of risky things to do in life. So why this?”

Jeremiah looks contemplative.

“I think it partially is the danger. I know I should stop going before my luck runs out, but the thrill attracts me. I love how intense it is, having sex with someone completely anonymous. It’s taboo and the adrenaline rush is indescribable.” Then, he turns to me with those piercing blue eyes. “Is it the same for you, honey? I imagine so.”

I nod.

“Yeah, you pretty much described me to a T because that’s exactly what I love about the encounters too. It feels so wrong, but there’s a certain level of danger and excitement that comes along with it that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. Plus, the anonymity works for me. Things won’t get complicated which is important because I’m on the road a lot, and with glory holes, it really is sex with no strings attached…except with us, of course,” I amend hastily with an apologetic smile. Jeremiah merely grins.

“No, it’s fine,” he says in a deep tone. “I like that you’re honest about what you want in life, Ginny. It’s refreshing because most women just dance around their wants and needs and expect you to intuit it, like I’m a mind-reader or something.”

I pretend shock.

“You’re not a mind-reader? Could have fooled me!”

He grins.

“No, it’s just that I get it. I partake in the lifestyle as well, so I understand the attraction. But our encounter was different, wouldn’t you say? I just couldn’t stop thinking about it because I’ve never had such a filthy experience at a glory hole before,” he says in a low voice. “Do you do that often?”

I shake my head, looking mutely into his eyes.

“No never. I’ve never had intercourse at a glory hole. It was a spur of the moment decision, and I guess I just enjoyed myself so much that I wanted to take it to the next level.”

Jeremiah nods slowly.

“Exactly, which brings us to our date tonight. I mean, I know I’ve been a little selfish on my part. Maybe I should have considered that our last encounter was a one-time thing, but when I saw you at the hotel again, I just knew.”

I put a small hand on his forearm.

“No, I get it,” I say in a soft voice. “And you’re right because usually, I prefer to be one and done,” I admit. “But this is an exception. It’s never happened before and I’m not angry that it’s happening now. Meeting again was a fortuitous circumstance. But how did you even know it was me?” I ask curiously, cocking my head at him. “We didn’t exactly see each other that first time.”

Jeremiah nods, his blue eyes glinting.

“I didn’t know, not a hundred percent,” he admits in a low voice. “But like I mentioned, I did catch a flash of ebony hair, of big blue eyes, and of sweet, delectable ass. And what can I say? When I saw you at the fundraiser, I just had a feeling in my bones, and it was right.”

I nod.

“Yeah, I had that feeling too,” I confess in a soft voice. “It’s crazy, but somehow, I knew.” But then I look up quickly. “But don’t you have a girlfriend or something? I mean, you’re very eligible.”

He chuckles, the corners of his mouth turning up.

“Nope, no girlfriend.” He shakes his head quickly. “One, I wouldn’t be here right now if I did, and secondly, I don’t really have time for a relationship at the moment. You know, my political campaign and all,” he grins.

I laugh too.

“And you’re a practicing attorney as well! Talk about busy.”

Jeremiah nods and then sighs.

“Yeah, that too. I feel like I have a billion matters to work on at the moment, and I can’t seem to keep up with them.”

I nod.

“But don’t you have anyone to help you?”

He grins.

“Yeah, for sure. I have a staff, and I’m probably going to need to hire some junior lawyers to assist with the caseload. But there’s even less time for recruiting what with me running for mayor and all, so I have no idea when I’m even going to look at resumes.” Then he laughs self-consciously. “Sorry. I realize this is probably boring to hear about, especially on a first date—”
