“Wait. Forgot one for the road.” Asher bends and gives me another kiss.
I know he’s already late, so I watch him stalk around the house, gathering up his wallet and keys, and wave as he goes out the door. He’ll be back in a few hours, and I’m bound and freaking determined to get the nursery set up. I’ve bought wallpaper and paint, the furniture, rugs, lamps, and it’s all just kind of sitting around waiting for us to get to it.
Maybe I’ll roll up my sleeves this morning, drink my decaf, and start on the painting. It’s non-toxic, safe paint, and I bought some wallpaper too. I figure it might end up a disaster, but I’m still going to try. No matter how the nursery turns out, it’s going to be perfect because it’s going to be yet another thing we create together.
It’s been three years and seven months since I kissed him outside my workplace, and I think we’ve made a pretty great team over the years. We got married two years ago and then made Paris our permanent residence after the wedding. We got married in Paris, and I’ll never forget how wonderful that day was. I’ll never forget any day I’ve spent with Asher because they’ve all been wonderful.
And I know for a fact that we’ll have plenty more where those came from, days filled with smiles and shrugs.
The End.
