“Warlord from Hell is really popular. Moon got all the brothers watching—”

Killyama shot her a speculative glance. “Could he be Moon?”

CHAPTER SEVENTY-FIVE

Could the man dressed as the warlord from Warlord from Hell be Moon? Larissa gave Killyama’s question a fleeting thought before having to admit that, as much as she wanted the fake warlord to be Moon, it wasn’t.

“I wish.” Disappointed, she tore her gaze away from the warlord and looked back to Killyama. “Moon wouldn’t go to the effort. When I pressured him about what he was wearing, he finally decided on sweatpants and a hula hoop. He didn’t think anyone would go to any trouble over their outfits. That’s why I was coming as a bad Sandy.”

Killyama became piercingly direct. “Dump his dumb ass.”

“Maybe he didn’t know,” she hazarded to guess. “He isn’t living with The Last Riders anymore and wasn’t aware how all-out everyone was going to be.”

“Either that or the conniving motherfucker didn’t want any of the other brothers sniffing after you while he was working.”

“Moon trusts me. He knows I wouldn’t cheat on him.”

“That’s your second mistake.”

Larissa kept her face straight as she saw Train come up behind Killyama to listen.

“What was my first?”

“Falling in love with him right off the bat just because you had sex. No one is that go—”

Train took a step forward, sliding an arm around her waist.

Larissa would have burst out laughing, but she was afraid Killyama would kill her right after she took her husband out.

Surprised at being grabbed from behind, as she turned around, Killyama reacted by throwing her arm in an attempt to smash Train in the face with her elbow. Luckily, Train must have expected the reaction, catching her arm mid-air and using her momentum to propel Killyama behind the bar counter. Pinned on three sides with the bar counter on one side, and the liquor wall on the other, she was maneuvered to the wall at the end of the bar.

Seeing Train going down for a kiss and Killyama not stopping him was like discovering your idol had feet of clay. Damn, if a mighty warrior like Killyama could be brought down with a kiss, what chance did she have to bring Moon to his knees? Secretly aspiring to have the confidence and assertiveness which Killyama had an overabundance of, she hoped some of it would rub off on her.

Eh … even the strongest warriors needed a night off.

When the kissing started getting touchy-feely, Larissa moved slightly away from the bar to give them some privacy.

Glancing toward the front door, she wondered what was taking Moon so long. He’d been working with Train; wouldn’t they have gotten off at the same time?

Unless …

Larissa worried at her bottom lip, skimming her eyes over the crowd to a covered head in the middle of the room.

Could the warlord be Moon? She had thought his gray sweatpants influencer idea was crazy. Was it to throw her off?

But why keep his identify a secret?

Navigating her way through the crowd, she saw the warlord was talking to the Phantom of the Opera. If she could get close enough to hear, she would recognize Moon’s voice.

“Hi, Larissa?”

“Hi, Lily.”

Dressed in all white, Lily was easily recognizable, despite the mask. Long black hair fell to the middle of her back. She carried herself with the grace of a model and had the height and beauty which made Lily stand out, regardless of how many beautiful women were around.

“You look lovely tonight,” Larissa complimented her.

“Thank you. I wouldn’t have recognized you if Winter hadn’t told me. You look beautiful.”

“Thanks to Killyama. She hooked me up.”

Drawn into conversation with Lily about going on a shopping trip and lunch with Killyama and her sister, Beth, when they were available, Larissa agreed, letting Lily continue to talk while she tried to listen to the warlord and the phantom. So far, the only one talking was the phantom …

“All right, it’s settled then.”

Realizing too late that Lily was walking off and she had inadvertently agreed to a girls’ day out without paying attention to the date, she figured she would have to call Lily tomorrow to find out when.

She twisted to the side and moved around a woman who was dressed like Cat Woman without the ears and another in a sequin gown that reflected the lights from the ceiling. Lowering her gaze at the glare coming off the shimmering gown, she accidentally plowed into a hard body coming from the other direction.

“Excuse”—she instantly became tongue-tied at seeing she had bumped into the warlord—“me.”

She hoped to hear his voice but was disappointed when he only nodded his head.

The warlord’s hands had come to her forearms in reflex when she stumbled into him. Expecting him to release her, she frowned as she tried to look through the mesh of his mask to at least determine his eye color. It was a useless endeavor.
