Today, seeing him attack that man and knowing he was going to deal with him, Eve felt a change in her feelings toward him. She knew it was wrong, but Eve preferred him to be in charge. No one should be able to take kids and get away with it.

A new wave of anger flooded her for that poor girl. She seemed so scared and panicked. All Eve wanted to do was tell them it would be okay, that her husband would fix it.

And now she felt the guilt at trying to run away from him, even suggesting divorce. Running a hand down her face, Eve slowly made her way down to the main kitchen. She was so tired from the day and everything in general.

Stepping into the kitchen, she went to the fridge and pulled out the milk. She was tempted to make herself some hot chocolate, but right now that seemed to be a little too much effort.

Stifling a yawn, she glanced over at the time and saw it was a little after eight. Grim had been gone for some time. She picked up her glass of milk and took a long sip. What could she do to make it up to him? Eve pursed her lips, and then took another sip.

You could just love him and make it up that way. Grim only wants to love you.

Every time he said he loved her, she felt that fluttering in her chest that she had come to associate with Grim. He made her heart sing and pulse and beat so incredibly fast. She couldn’t help but feel like she was walking on cloud nine.

She finished off another glass of milk and was tempted by a second. A noise distracted her. Eve frowned. She put the glass down as another grunt came, and this time it seemed to be closer. The sound came close to the kitchen door, and then someone stepped toward the kitchen door and Eve couldn’t help but scream. That was a face and it smiled right at her.

She didn’t think, but she ran. The sound of breaking glass echoed through the room as she cleared the kitchen. Another wave of panic sliced through her, but she tried to ignore it as she ran toward Grim’s office. She didn’t get very far before the intruder grabbed her hair.

“Well, I have to say, I’m a little shocked that Grim would leave you with so few guards. Rumor was that he had a little woman waiting at home for him, but I didn’t for a second think he’d be fool enough to leave you alone.”

Eve had no idea who the man was. He threw her, and she cried out as she hit the opposite wall. There was nothing for her to grab onto, so she crashed to the floor. The intruder, whoever he was, grabbed her by her hair and began to drag her into Grim’s office.

Panic sliced through her and she tried to fight him, but that was only making it easier for him to drag her into the room. He let go of her hair, but she cried out as he landed a blow to her body. She didn’t for a second believe it was a full-blown body blow. He was taking his time and making sure she felt everything.

She heard a chuckle and then she was lifted, and he backhanded her. Eve whimpered as she collapsed to the ground.

What was happening? She didn’t understand it.

She couldn’t recall ever feeling this way and the only person she wanted was her husband.

“So, you’re Grim’s wife. There was a rumor about that evil bastard finding love, but I didn’t believe it.”

Eve stayed on the floor, trying to think and not panic, and figure out the best way to get away from him. Making a run for it was out of the question, he was clearly too strong for her.

Another wave of panic hit her. What the hell was she going to do?

She hadn’t called Grim because … well, she was giving him space so he could do what he needed to do. The other fact was, she didn’t think he would appreciate his wife calling him while he might potentially be killing someone.

Eve kept her hands flat on the ground. Even when she wanted to pant for breath, she tried to keep her breathing slow and steady so as not to alert him to the fact she was still there.

What should she do? That was the question going around in her head.

Where was Grim?

Who was this man?

“I mean, I should have. Trying to conduct any business with Grim breathing down your neck was next to impossible, but then you provided so much of a distraction to him.”

Was this the man creating the orders for the kids? Another wave of sickness hit Eve. She wanted to kill this motherfucker.
