“We’re so sorry, boss. It was disrespectful.”
“You’re damn right it was. Now, get off my property. Go to the shop. You’re not working here anymore.”
They nod and rush their friend through the gate toward the driveway.
I can feel Jessie’s eyes on me, and I turn around slowly. She’s standing at the edge of the pool looking at me while Macy continues to play gleefully in the water. I clear my throat and fix my tie before approaching them.
“Is everything alright?” a wide-eyed Jessie asks.
“It is now. Nothing for you to worry about,” I grunt.
“Uncle, Uncle, stay and watch me swim,” Macy shouts.
I glance over at her and smile.
“You should. Do you have a little time to spend with us?” Jessie adds.
“Maybe a minute or two.” I can’t help looking down at her perfect, round tits and those thighs I want wrapped around my head.
She blushes when she realizes I’m checking her out, but she doesn’t try to cover herself. She turns back to the pool, giving me a full view of her ass in the tiny red thong. And what ass she has. I just want to fondle her through the thin fabric and maybe bury my tongue inside her wet warmth.
“That’s quite a bathing suit, Jessie.”
“Is it inappropriate? I didn’t know for sure but she wanted to swim and it’s the only one I have. I’ll buy a one-piece tomorrow.”
“No, I like seeing you in this one. This is the one you should wear. I’ll make sure there’s no one else around when you’re in the pool.”
Her cheeks redden again, and she nods her head and then sits back down near the steps. I grab a pool chair and pull it up beside her.
Her hair is down and cascades in waves over her shoulders. I don’t have the right to touch her, but I do it anyway. I reach out and run my fingers over the strands.
“You have beautiful hair,” I tell her, my voice low.
“Thank you.” She looks up at me and smiles that beautiful smile, making my heart slam against my ribcage. My eyes zero in on her lips, and I fight the urge to lower my head and suck her bottom lip between my teeth or slide my tongue into her mouth.
“Boss, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I need you inside,” Rory’s voice calls from the kitchen doorway.
Perfect timing as always.
“I have to go, Jessie. Don’t keep her out here too long. She needs a nap before dinner.”
“When is dinner?”
“We eat at six.”
“Just the two of you?”
“No, just the three of us. You dine with us, remember?”
I know I should be heading toward the door, but I just can’t seem to make my feet move in any direction. Standing here beside Jessie is the only place I want to be. Rory, who is lingering just inside the door, clears his throat. I take that as my sign that the issue at hand can’t wait any longer.
“See you at dinner, Jess.”
“Yes, Jack.”
Macy yelps as Jessie dives into the pool and swims to her side. And for the first time in my life, I’m pissed at missing something because duty calls.

JESSIE
Macy is dried off, changed, and down for her nap, allowing me to figure out what to wear for dinner.
Jack seems to always be in a suit and tie, so I don’t think my usual jeans and shirt will do. I don’t want to look like I’m going to the prom or a wedding but something sophisticated to make a good impression would be nice.
Until now, it seems like I’ve screwed something up every time I speak to Jack. I don’t want to continue that cycle. This time, I want to impress him.
I dig through my bags, tossing what little wardrobe I own onto the bed. The last item I find is the pink and white dress that I wore on my eighteenth birthday. Sister Clara from the orphanage bought it for me as a sort of graduation present. It was the birthday that signified my freedom and the last day I would spend as a ward of the state.
Showered and dressed, I slip back into Macy’s bedroom to find her awake from her nap and sitting on her bed with a book on her lap.
“Hi, Macy. Did you have a good nap?”
She nods and smiles, then puts the book down and hops off the bed. She holds her arms out to me, and I kneel to hug her. I may have taken the job for the money and felt a rush of relief when I found out that room and board were included, but none of that would have mattered if Macy hadn’t turned out to be such a sweet kid.
“Are you ready to go to dinner now?” I ask her.
“Yes, Miss Jessie.” She takes my hand and leads me out to the stairs.
