“I’ll follow you anywhere, gorgeous,” I say to her receding back.

“Are you checking out my ass?” she hisses.

“You bet,” I admit, “I’m deciding which side I’m going to bite first.” Her face gets pink, and instead of answering me, she turns into the doorway, stopping to hold the door and wait for me to be clear before she shuts it behind me.

I walk into her office and see her desk with two computer screens on it. Her jacket hangs in the corner with her boots right under. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she snaps.

“I came to give you a present.” I lift the white bag in my hand. “It looked a lot prettier before the guy downstairs fucked it up.”

“You can’t just show up here, Stone,” she huffs as she walks to meet me in the middle of her office, cocking her hip to the side. “You do realize that I work in a government building and not just a regular office. There are protocols. You can’t just walk in here.”

“Oh, I know,” I grit out. “I was basically fingerprinted to get in. I had to give them my ID. I was praying there would be no beeping when I walked through the metal detector.” I look down at her. “But it was all worth it.”

“This might actually work in my favor when I tell them you’re stalking me,” she muses, and I can see her anger dissipate just a bit. Her eyes are getting lighter. “You’re now on every single security camera there is.” She puts her hands on her hips. “Easier for them to shoot you now. Thank you for that.” She smiles, and I close the distance between us.

She doesn’t move from where she stands, but I can see her chest heaving. “It’s good to see you, gorgeous,” I say softly, dropping the bag in my hand so I can grab her face. “I missed you.”

“I find that—” she says, but then stops because my lips are on hers, and my tongue slides into her mouth. I close my eyes as her tongue rolls with mine, making the whole thing I just went through worth it. Being in the same room with her makes it all worth it. She steps into me, putting her hands on my hips. I could kiss her all day long and be happy.

“Hmmm,” I mumble when I let her lips go so I can look at her. Her eyes open. “I like this top, makes it easy to do this.” I bend my head and bite the side of her neck before sucking it.

“Don’t you dare give me a hickey, Stone.” She pushes me away from her. “Now, what the hell are you doing here?”

“Well, I came to kiss you.” I kiss her lips again. “To give you this.” I hold up the white bag. “And to ask you to dinner.”

“I already said no.” She shakes her head, and I bend to kiss the side of her lips.

“I know, which is why I came to persuade you.” I trail kisses along her neck. “It’s just a dinner, gorgeous.”

“Ryleigh,” she hisses out, and when I look up, I can see her eyes are closed as she enjoys my kisses on her neck. I wrap an arm around her waist before my hand slides to her ass, pulling her toward me. She shrieks when I palm her ass and squeeze. “Good God, you aren’t going to take no for an answer, are you?”

“No,” I answer her honestly as I nip her ear. “Dinner. Me and you tonight.”

“Ugh,” she puffs, and I take a second to look at her, staring into her eyes.

“Have dinner with me, gorgeous,” I invite softly. She pushes me away from her, straightening her pants even though they don’t need to be straightened. “It’s just dinner.”

“If I say yes, will you leave me alone?” she asks, and I can see I’m wearing her down.

“For today anyway,” I answer, making her roll her eyes at me.

“Fine, I’ll go out to dinner with you.”

CHAPTER EIGHT

ryleigh

What are you doing? my head screams as soon as I utter the words I said I would never say. “I’ll go out to dinner with you.”

“Really?” he says, the smile on his face beaming. “Shit, I have to be at practice in two hours, or I would kidnap you right now.”

I can’t help but laugh. “You know this is a government building, and they literally will shoot you.” I shake my head, ignoring how good it is to see him. “You need to go, and I’ll call you about tonight.”

“What time do you finish?” he asks. “I’m done at five. I can come and get you.”

“Absolutely not,” I snap. “I will meet you there.” I see he’s about to argue with me, so I change the subject. “What’s in the bag?”
