“Because you did not show the crown princess consort of our kingdom her due respect and because you went further and tried to bring her harm, I sentence you to serve her for the rest of your life.” She balked and tried pleading her case but her words fell on deaf ears.

“Because you brought an enemy into the kingdom, you will be stripped of all your abilities. You will no longer have the power of the vampyre in fact you will have no powers at all. And that beauty you’re so proud of…see what you look like.”

I pulled my hand back and with a flick of my wrist tore skin and bone before reshaping her appearance in a matter of seconds. She now looked more like the old hag I’d just sent to hell than her former self.

A glowing mirror materialized in my hand and held it up for her to see once her screams were at an end. I’d made sure she felt every tear and mending of her skin and bones. Her screams only got louder once she saw her new appearance and I felt a touch of madness in her mind. You’re not gonna escape that way. I want you completely aware of everything that’s about to happen to you.

“I wouldn’t want your disfigured appearance to upset my wife, as you are now you’re only suitable to work in the privy chamber. That will be your new position here in the kingdom from this day on. If you try to end your existence, I will revive you and make your life even worst.”

I’d said all I came to say and I didn’t want to spend another minute in her presence so I left the room and gave the guard strict orders to have her sent to the palace after she got cleaned up. I have no intentions of telling Natalia about this, she won’t recognize her now anyway and the two of them will never meet again in this life. It was enough for me that I would know that she would be suffering forever for what she’d done.

NATALIA

It’s finally here; our official wedding day and I already feel with all that’s happened like we’ve been married for half a lifetime. I was too excited to sleep the night before and so I was wide awake in the early morning hours when I felt my sisters arrive.

I sat up in bed or tried to, but the dragon had his leg thrown across mine, as if he was afraid that I would escape in the night. “Let me up they’re here.” He didn’t open his eyes but just to be contrary wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me back down beside him.

“Yes I know I heard them.”

“Well? We have to get up to meet our guests. My parents should be here soon.” I’d learned only in the last day what had happened to them. They’d been sent away for their safety and so that there was no chance of them interfering with the mating.

I haven’t spoken to them yet but I knew they were on their way here and that they were okay. Something else I have to be thankful to him for. He’s the one who’d sent feelers out to find them where they were being hidden when even I couldn’t.

Now everything was coming together nicely, if I could only get through this day without incident. Yesterday’s little kerfuffle was more than enough to last me for the next little while. I have no idea what had happened to the hag and the halfwit because he refused to discuss it and now that I can read his mind he still has ways of keeping me out, so I guess I’ll have to be satisfied with his, ‘they won’t be bothering you ever again.’

Not that I cared though I had way too much on my plate to dwell on bullshit. He actually fell asleep again and I had no other choice but to bite him. He didn’t even wince, just cracked his eye open and looked at me.

“What is it?”

“Let me up.” I hissed but he didn’t even budge.

“I’m not ready to get up yet and neither are you. You had a long day yesterday and you’re facing another one today, no.”

“But they came all this way.”

“So?” Unreasonable much?

“It’s not unreasonable for me to want to take care of you. You almost lost your life less than twenty-four hours ago remember? Not to mention you’re carrying my son. Today’s ceremony is going to go on for hours…”

“Hours? See, if you’d let me take those lessons with the ladies I would know what I’m about to face.”

“Aren’t you the same one who threatened to jump off elimination tower if you had to sit through one more lesson? There’s nothing to it anyway.”
