I wonder if my comments seem too weak, too timid, not at all like the maelstrom of desire inside of me.

Freya glances at the screen, sighing as her mother begins to walk up the stairs.

“I should go to the kitchen. She’ll get suspicious if she finds me here.”

When she lowers her hands, I step close and wrap my arms around her, pulling her right up against me. I hold her tightly, feeling her heart slamming through her body into mine as though we’re joining in some strange way.

She hugs me tightly in response, her hands squeezing against my back as if she never wants to let go.

“Are you going to get any sleep?” she asks, leaning back in my embrace.

I sigh, shrugging. “Not until Kenny arrives.”

“When will that be?”

“Tomorrow evening, most likely.”

“Felix.” Freya looks anxiously at the security screens, wincing. “We’re going to arrange something better than that. We can’t have you awake for three days in a row. It’s crazy. But….”

Her mom is walking down the hallway now toward the kitchen.

“I understand,” I tell her.

Freya smiles tightly and then goes for the door.

My cock twinges, shifting in my pants like an animal with a mind of its own, telling me to charge after her.

But somehow I manage to stay where I am, watching the security screens as Freya and her mother speak for a few minutes, then head back downstairs to the basement.

I sit up, rubbing my hands up and down my face, trying to jolt some alertness into myself.

My body is pumping with adrenaline, which helps the aftereffects of what Freya and I did. The need is still in my manhood, bulging, roaring, as I think about how she melted for me.

Freya returns to her bedroom, pausing at the door and looking at the camera.

A smile slowly spreads across her face, her cheeks flushed, making me smile in return – smile like I never dreamed I would.

When she walks into the bedroom, I feel like a piece of me is missing.

CHAPTER

FIFTEEN

Freya

It’s eleven AM when I walk down the corridor toward the security room, my head feeling foggy with sleep, with everything that happened last night.

My dreams were full of Felix, his tongue, the heat which struck me at the end, the slamming pleasure.

I could almost imagine the whole thing was a dream at certain points. Last night, the party, believing everything involving Felix never happened.

I woke panting when it started to seem like my reality was just a dream.

When I truly believed none of this had happened, I longed for it, for him. The bullets, the mayhem, the fear, and the confusion are all worth it for him.

I knock on the door and Felix answers in a low voice.

“Yeah?”

“It’s me,” I tell him.

I push the door open to find him sitting at the security screens. He’s wearing the same clothes from last night, which isn’t saying much…so am I. But somehow, his crinkled clothes make him seem even more tired.

His eyes are pits, bloodshot.

But he seems to jolt awake as I walk across the room.

He climbs to his feet and pulls me into his arms, ignoring the open door, ignoring the fact my mom and Julie are just down the hall in the kitchen.

Our lips find each other. I’m sure I can still taste what we did last night. Maybe that should gross me out, but it doesn’t.

My heart starts thudding quickly, our mouths opening, our tongues clashing together.

“You look exhausted,” I tell him, breathing heavily as the kiss comes to a natural end.

He smirks down at me, his eyes hazy. “I have to keep you safe.”

Warmth whelms inside of me. We got close last night in this room.

As we talked – my body still humming with pleasure – I felt sure he was going to tell me he feels the same as me. But even what he said was enough.

He said it’s the start of something.

Fine, that’s not the same as I want you for every single second every day. But it’s better than nothing, better than I could’ve hoped for when I met him in the tattoo studio.

“I understand that,” I say. “But how are you going to keep me safe without any sleep? Maybe you should let me take a shift. If anything happens, I’ll wake you up.”

His hands rest on my hips casually, as though he’s held me like this a dozen times before. But there’s also that newness, the spark which I somehow know will never fade.

“It’s tempting,” he mutters. “And it makes sense. I need to be alert at least until Kenny arrives with his men.”

“Have you spoken to him?”

Felix nods. “He’s making good progress, driving in shifts. They should be here sooner than expected.”

“Why didn’t they fly?” I ask.

“It’s safer this way,” he replies. “It means Mr. Red and his men won’t spot us. Or Kenny. Or Yasmin. Or Felicia.”
