“What was that for?” she asks breathlessly.

I shrug and grin. “I just felt like it, sweetheart. You’re very fetching indeed.”

“I hope you feel like it more often then, Mr. Masters,” she giggles. “Because I liked it a lot.”

That just calls for another sweeping kiss, and I make her moan a bit even with passerby letting out a few wolf whistles. I don’t care. After all, this woman belongs to me, and I want the world to know. She feels right in my arms, and I enjoy spending time with her.

Afterwards, we break apart, and chat as we stroll, enjoying our time together. I find out that Pepper’s hobbies include lounging by the pool with her best friend and trying to come up with fun new coffee blends to introduce at the coffee shop. I tell her about my love for baseball and my dream of having animals around the house again, even if it’s just a dog.

The fair goes on around us, but Pepper and I are in our own little bubble and the date passes at light speed. Before I realize it, the sun is low on the horizon and we’ve talked non-stop for hours.

“Did you have a good time?” Pepper asks shyly. I look down at her hand in mind, and give it a squeeze.

“Yes, absolutely sweetheart. I want to do this again, ASAP. Is that okay with you?”

She blushes and nods, and my heart leaps. This is the woman for me, and I can feel it in my bones. But why haven’t I revealed my true position to her? Why have I kept secret the fact that I’m a CEO, and not some boring suit with a middle-management job? Would she care?

I hope not.

Pepper lives in a cute two-story house in a nice neighborhood. There are definitely larger homes around, but Pepper’s family has made this one inviting with a pair of ceramic dogs on the stoop, as well as well-trimmed bushes and flower beds.

As soon as I pull up in my truck, Pepper runs out the door and down the stairs. She kisses my cheek while jumping into the passenger seat.

“Hi!” she breathes, her cheeks flushed. “How are you?”

“I’m well. It’s been a busy week, to say the least.” A merry peal of laughter rings out as I pull away from the curb.

“But it’s only Tuesday! How will you last until Friday?”

I laugh. “I know. That’s why I’m glad we’re going out.”

“Where are we going?”

“It’s a surprise.”

“Come on!”

“Nope.”

I planned this date as soon as we left the fair last weekend, and I know it’s something the curvy girl will love. The instructions I texted her this morning said she should wear jeans and boots, and boy, did Pepper listen. The jeans she picked out fit her like a second skin and already have me rarin’ to go.

But I’m surprised Pepper hasn’t figured out what we’re doing yet because she’s smart. A few times already, she’s been able to guess the words on the tip of my tongue before I even say them. Maybe she already knows, and she’s trying not to ruin it, which is also testament to her discretion and consideration.

I put one hand on Pepper’s knee as we drive. In turn, she has one hand out the open window, surfing on the wind and enjoying the breeze.

This feels right. I’ve never been this comfortable with another person, much less a woman. Sure, I can own a room when I need to because you don’t get to be CEO without some level of dominance. However, it’s different with Pepper. I don’t need to convince her to do anything for me, nor would I want to. I want her to be here, with me, of her own free will while enjoying herself to the utmost.

I turn to smile at her.

“How has your week been?” I ask Pepper.

She giggles. “It’s been fine. Not much has happened since I saw you on Saturday.”

“But you met your friend’s boyfriend yesterday, didn’t you? What was her name again? Lana? Lorna?”

“Oh, yeah, I forgot I told you about that. It went surprisingly well, and to be honest, I’ve never seen Leslie so smitten. This relationship might last longer than a couple weeks. I’m proud of her because she was like a changed person last night.”

I chuckle.

“That’s good. Sometimes it just takes one person to effect change.”

Pepper nods. “I’m hoping that happens for Leslie because she deserves to be truly happy.”

We continue to discuss Pepper’s friend for a little bit, and I like hearing her talk. I could listen to it all day.

“How was work on Sunday?” I ask when there’s a brief lull. We’re only about fifteen minutes from our destination but I’m always interested to hear more about the curvy girl.

Pepper grins. “It was fantastic. I have some regulars who come by on Sundays, and they’re the best.”
