“Oh my god!” My entire body jerks, and I nearly choke on my own words before they come out.

Nate doesn’t stop. The peak feels like it’s going to last for an eternity as the two orgasms merge into a singular one that nearly destroys me with euphoria. He finally slows down once the peak begins to wane, bringing me back to reality with a few gentle ones before they stop. My head is spinning. My body has given all that it has. Nate has done the same. He shifts and collapses against the mattress, pulling me into his arms in the process.

Neither of us say anything. I’m not sure we could verbalize how incredible it was. I can barely put my thoughts together, but I know we just experienced something magical. It’s the beginning of our life together, the consummation of our intentions even though we haven’t made it to the altar yet.

We lay there for almost an hour before Nate finally shifts and turns to face me on the bed. “Are you ready to go to sleep?”

“I’m exhausted, but I have to admit, I’m a little wired right now.” I lean my head against him.

“Me too.” He sighs.

Nate and I talk for several hours before our desires begin to flourish again. We aren’t going to sleep. Not yet at least. Our bodies may be worn out, but they still demand more. It’s as much mental as it is physical.

Being with him is so exhilarating.

Chapter Eleven

Nate

I normally wake up pretty early, but after staying up most of the night with Catriona, it’s almost ten before my eyes finally open. I’m instantly hit with a wave of emotions. Did it really happen? Was it just a dream? I have to turn over and make sure she’s still in the bed beside me just to make sure that my brain hasn’t played a terrible trick on me. It didn’t. She looks like an angel with the morning sun creating a halo around her head.

My angel. I’m never going to let her go. I may have been opposed to the idea of a mail-order bride when it was originally pitched to me, but this is no longer about saving Snow Valley. This is the woman I want to spend my life with. I want to experience all of our firsts, even our first fight, because it’s inevitable. Life is a journey, and she is going to be beside me for the rest of mine. There’s no doubt in my mind. This was meant to be. I don’t even feel drawn to my vices when I’m with her. It’s like they aren’t important anymore because what I have beside me is so much better.

I leave her sleeping and go to the kitchen to make breakfast. I get everything prepared, including coffee, before I finally hear her stir. She walks into the kitchen wearing one of my t-shirts, and it’s everything I can do not to drag her right back to the bedroom.

“Good morning, beautiful.” I grab a cup. “Want some coffee?”

“Absolutely.” She smiles and sits down at the table.

That smile. It’s never going to stop slaying me. I nearly get lost in a trance before I finally break free and pour her coffee. She likes milk in her coffee, which is good, because I don’t have anything else other than some cream that I haven’t checked the expiration date on in a while. I make us each a plate and sit down after the coffee is served.

“It’s been a while since I’ve had time for breakfast.” Catriona reaches for her fork.

“You’re going to need plenty of energy today.” I nod. “There is a lot to see in Snow Valley.”

“Is that the only thing I’m going to need energy for?” She looks down, and I see her lips spread into a devious grin.

“You keep talking like that and we might not see anything in Snow Valley today.” I laugh under my breath.

“Hmm.” She smirks, and her eyebrows shoot up. “Maybe I just want to stay nice and warm today. It’s cold out there.”

“It’ll be worth it.” I reach over and squeeze her hand. “I promise.”

We continue talking through breakfast, and then we head to get ready for our trip out. We don’t get far before we end up sharing a shower and giving in to our desires. The same thing happens again when we make it to the bedroom. It’s almost three o’clock in the afternoon before we finally get dressed. Normally, I’m a stickler for keeping a tight schedule, but I don’t mind the delays at all. We leave the house hand-in-hand, which feels as perfect as everything else we’ve shared up to this point.

“What do we get to see first?” Catriona looks up at me after I open the door and get her situated in the passenger side of my truck.
