I take three sweatshirts, and I’m almost tempted to take a couple other things, but I restrain myself. I smile when I walk from frame to frame, seeing her name on there. I walk out, closing the door behind me before walking down the steps. “Vivienne,” I call out her name.

“In here!” she yells from one of the rooms I saw walking up. I walk into her room and take a look around. “In the closet.” I look at the luggage in the middle of the bed and walk over to sit next to it.

She walks out of the closet with a hanger in each hand. “Okay, I’m trying to pack and, well, I don’t know where we are going.”

I laugh because she didn’t even ask me where these meetings were. She was just automatically ready to come with me, no matter what. “Vegas, Phoenix, and San Jose.”

“So…fucking warm.” She laughs, walking back into her closet. “Should I pack something fancy?” She sticks her head out.

“I guess, I can take you out on a real date,” I say, smirking.

“Ohhh, there is this club in Vegas I read about.” I tilt my head to the side. “I think they have like special rooms, and you can have sex.”

My mouth opens in shock. “Are you out of your mind? I’m not asking you to a sex club on a first date.”

“SO, on a sex-ond date, then.” She laughs at her joke. “Get it? Sex and then ond.”

I can’t help but laugh at her. She’s nervous about how I’m feeling and trying to do whatever she can in order for the focus to be on her. “Clever,” I muse, grabbing my phone and texting the lady for the plane. The text comes back that the plane will be ready in forty-five minutes. She comes back out, folding things into the luggage and then putting in the sexiest pair of shoes I’ve ever seen. “Definitely going to get you to wear these.” I pick up one in my hand when she comes back out of the closet.

She has changed into a white tank dress, and my mouth waters. Her legs are tanned and on display in caramel sandals. This woman could wear anything and still be the most beautiful person in the room. “I’m almost done.” She walks over and grabs a jean jacket, slipping it on. She comes over and zips up her luggage and tries to take it off the bed, but I put my hand on it.

“Don’t you even think about it,” I warn her, and she comes over to me.

Stepping in the middle of my legs, she brushes the hair back away from my forehead, my hand running up the back of her leg. “Are you okay?” Her eyes search mine.

“Surprisingly, I’m not doing as bad as I thought I would be.” I am and forever will be one thousand percent transparent with her.

“Well, if it helps”—she bends to kiss my lips—“we can join the mile-high club.” I can’t help but laugh at that. I grab the bag and place it in the hatch next to the other two bags.

Putting the address into the GPS, she makes our way over there. Grabbing her smaller bag to help me, I wait for her to walk up the steps of the plane before joining her.

She sits down in the chair and looks over at me, smiling. I bend down to kiss her lips before I sit in the chair across from her, the table in the middle of us, looking out the window. My mind is racing for a whole different reason now.

Everything with her is easy. There is no forcing conversations. If we have nothing to say, we say nothing, and it’s okay. The last two weeks with her have been a dream, which makes going out west something to think about. What is going to happen between us? How the fuck are we going to make this work?

CHAPTER 27

VIVIENNE

I fasten my seat belt and open the shade of the plane window, looking out. My heart beats faster than I want it to be. I need to be his rock this week, is the only thing on my mind. He has to know he can lean on me. “Good afternoon.” I look up seeing the flight attendant standing there. “I’m Kalie, and I’ll be with you on this flight.” She smiles at both of us. “The flight time to Vegas is five and a half hours. We should be arriving at six p.m. local time. They are just closing everything up, and we should be taking off in the next thirty minutes. As soon as we are in the air, I’ll bring you something to drink. What can I get you?”

“I’ll have a soda water with lime, please.” I smile at her and then look at Xavier. He literally takes my breath away. He’s sexy in everything he wears. Shorts that fall on his hips, showing me that side V I love, mouthwatering. In the morning wearing shorts and a shirt with a cup of coffee in his hand, he makes my stomach flutter. Him naked is in a whole different world. Just thinking about him naked makes my toes curl. But seeing him dressed up a little, well, that just made his whole package even better.
