“Thank you,” I say softly, “for talking me through this.”

“I didn’t do anything,” she says. “I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll miss you, too, pussy-ass bitch,” I tease, and she just hangs up on me. I get up, walking upstairs to my bedroom. The sound of the shower is still going as I slip back into bed. My head is turning around and around with everything I discussed with him, and then what Abigail and I just discussed, but at the end of the day there is only one real answer.

I prop my pillows up behind me. “What if you don’t go?” I ask myself. I feel sick to my stomach when I say the words out loud. I look over to the chair, see his stuff in it, and then look over to the side table where he has the notebook he writes in every night. Something that is totally new, also something he hasn’t shared with me. I then look over and see the baseball hat beside the lamp that he wears when he doesn’t want to do his hair right. The thought of not seeing him all the time hurts my chest.

I don’t even notice that the shower has been turned off. Only when I hear his voice do I snap out of my daze. “You okay?” he asks, standing at the entrance of the bathroom with a white towel wrapped around his waist.

“Yeah, I was just thinking,” I tell him honestly.

“I figured you would have questions,” he says when he comes closer to the bed.

“I do. I have a couple.” I stare at him. “But the most important one is.” I smile. “When do we leave?”

THIRTY

ROMEO

I stare out of the window seeing nothing in the sky but white clouds. My heart speeds up even faster as we get closer and closer to LA. Especially when everything was finally settling into place. I was the happiest I had ever been, and it suddenly felt like the devil’s way of temptation. Not that I was tempted by anything LA had to offer me. Been there, done that.

I knew I would eventually have to go back home; I didn’t expect it to be so soon. It was a lot sooner than I thought it would be, but when Sander called me, I wasn’t sure what it was about. I thought he was calling to tell me things had to be reshot. I was expecting that, to be honest. What I wasn’t expecting him to say was come and help me with the creative side. I was shocked to say the least, and then he said the words that stopped my heart from beating. “I would need you here by next week.” The minute he said that, I felt her hug me from behind. Her arms wrapped around me, softly kissing my back. My head said that I had no choice but to go, but my heart, my heart said there was no way I could leave her. I wasn’t ready, so what did I do. I caved and asked her to come with me. Did I think she would say yes? No. Was I going to go even if she didn’t come? I don’t know. Luckily, I didn’t have to think about it because in the true fashion of awesomeness that is Gabriella, she put herself and her needs behind mine.

It took a day for her to clear her schedule, and then she made one phone call to someone, telling them she would be in LA and her calendar was full for the next month. “Why am I so nervous?” I look over at Gabriella, sitting with her legs crossed in front of her. She looks up at me, and seeing her smile makes me feel instantly better. She is wearing a pair of light blue jeans that I almost ripped off her when she stepped out of her closet. They molded her to the T, and she looked sexy as hell. My cock was instantly up for her. The white V-neck T-shirt tucked in the front made her even sexier, and it was just a cotton shirt. I walked over to her, grabbing her ass in my hands before pulling her to me so she could feel my cock. She pushed me away and grabbed the long gray cashmere sweater she put on to cover her ass but removed as soon as we took off.

“I have no idea. What are you feeling?” She puts the iPad she was on beside her, giving me her full attention.

“Like it’s doomsday,” I joke, and she laughs, shaking her head. I lean forward. “You know what will help?” I say, whispering but not really whispering.

“I’m not having sex with you in the bathroom.” She rolls her eyes at me and looks ahead to see if the flight attendant is listening.
