I let my gaze continue to sweep across the room. We usually have the Devil’s Blaze here, but there’s no celebrating for them this year. Skull and Beth are really struggling since losing Diego. I also heard that Gabby had left the state, needing a fresh start. I can’t say as I blame her. I feel sorry for her and that’s something I never thought I’d say. Word is that Skull completely ignores her now. I may have to travel to Corbin to pull that man’s head out of his ass. If I don’t, once he realizes what he’s done, he will hate himself. Skull’s loss is a sad reminder of how truly blessed my family is to have Breaker back. My heart breaks for Skull. I still feel responsible for the loss. I probably always will.

I look at all the tables filled with members of the Savage Brothers and their families. Then, slowly, my gaze shifts back to Nicole—my reason for living. Next, I look at my beautiful daughter Kayden and her man Chains. I shake my head as I see Chains rocking my grandchild gently. I had my doubts about that son of a bitch, but he’s a good man. I can’t deny it. I clear my throat, forcing myself to focus.

“As I look around this room, it’s hard for me to believe that this all started with four assholes who fought to survive every damn curveball life could throw at them. We had no idea what we were doing. The only thing we knew for sure was that we were brothers. We might not have shared the same blood, but we sure as hell shed it together.”

“Amen,” Dancer, Crusher, and Bull chime in.

“I don’t think there’s a one of us that realized what we were building at the time. I don’t think we could have grasped what our dreams would become.”

“You can say that again,” Crusher chuckles.

“We sure as hell had no idea that our sorry assess would somehow luck in to finding the only women on the face of the earth that could not only put up with us, but somehow make us into better men.”

“You forgot save our lives,” Dancer says, looking at Carrie. “I love you, Princess.” She smiles at him and kisses him, hugging him tightly.

“Once long ago, I thought about striking a match and letting the whole club burn down, walking away with just my woman—”

“Was that after Nic named another child after me?”

“Don’t make me beat the shit out of you, Bull. It’d piss off my woman.”

“Hey! You can’t hurt my papaw! My daddy won’t let you,” Tinny calls out. “Uncle Cooper will help him, too!”

Everyone starts laughing and I grin at the little girl. “I wouldn’t hurt him. I was just joking, Tinny.”

“Oh. It’s not very funny, Uncle Dragon,” she says, crossing her arms at her chest. “And you said bad words.”

“I guess I did. I’m sorry.”

She nods. “Don’t worry Big Paw. My Daddy is the best. He won’t let Uncle Dragon hurt you,” she adds, making everyone laugh.

“I guess, I should probably wrap this up and try to get my new niece to like me again,” I joke. I reach down and grab Nic’s drink and hand it to her, before taking my own and holding it out.

“To all of you—our family. I am thankful for each of you. I’m damn proud of who we’ve become. We work together, we grieve together, and we celebrate together. May we never forget the one truth that this club was founded on. We don’t have to share the same DNA to be a family. May we always remember love brought us together and loyalty will keep us that way.”

“Here! Here!” everyone chimes in.

“To the Savage Brothers MC! Live free or die trying!” I yell out our motto.

We all take a drink and as everyone starts either cheering or talking loudly to one another, I turn and look at Nicole.

“It’s been a wild ride, hasn’t it, Dragon?”

“It sure as fuck has. You stormed into my life barefooted, pumping gas, and teasing me with that delicious ass of yours and life as I had known it exploded. In its wake, you grabbed hold of me and somehow gave me every dream I never knew I had. I love you, Mama, down to my fucking bones.”

“Forever, Dragon. Remember our promise.”

“I’ll never forget, woman,” I vow, pulling her closer and claiming her mouth with the same hunger I felt all those years ago. Time has flown by. My kids are grown now and soon, I’ll step down for the next generation to take over completely. I’ll enjoy my wife and my grandkids. It will be a different life, but just as fulfilling, because I’ll do it with my woman right by my side.

Forever.

Breaker

One Year Later

“Indy, stop fidgeting. It all looks great,” Iva chastises her, making me grin. I’ve been saying the same thing for the last hour.
