“I’ve missed you, sweet Mia. How have you been?” I ask, leaning back in my chair and waiting to soak in every word she has to say. There is something about her sweet tone that is so alluring. I’m not sure I like that she spends her days calling other people. I might have to fix that.

“You remember me?” she asks after a moment of hesitation.

“Mia Montgomery. How could I not remember a voice like yours?” I’ve played the few words she said to me over and over in my head.

“Is he hitting on you?” I hear someone try to whisper. They must be next to Mia as she makes the call. I hear her attempt to cover the phone so she can respond to whomever is speaking.

“Of course not,” Mia hisses back. I smile. Jesus she’s adorable. “Is there a way we can collect on the debt?” she goes on.

“How much was it again?” I ask.

“Five million.” Her voice is filled with disbelief as if I should know this already. Or maybe it’s the fact that she’s wondering how the hell I’d spent that amount of money on lingerie. Little does she know I’d spend double that if she wanted it. I’d sit and watch her try each piece on. Maybe that’s a lie. My control isn’t that great.

“Who spends five million on lingerie?” I hear the girl in the background say. “Can’t you buy a whole company for that amount of money?”

“Shh,” Mia hushes her friend. I can tell my little angel is shy and it makes my cock harder. If I was a lesser man, I’d already be asking her if she’s as innocent as she sounds. I pull myself back from those thoughts. They’re not helping my current situation. There is an air of sweet innocence to her that I don’t want to take yet. At least not until we’re alone and then it will only belong to me because she’s gifted it to me.

“You think it’s for himself?”

I smile bigger enjoying their banter.

“Don’t kink shame,” Mia scolds her friend. At least my girl has an open mind because I’ve got all kinds of kinky things planned for her. The first is tying her to my bed so I always know where she is.

“I’m not. I’m just nosy.” I have to fight a laugh. “You know this. Remember that time-”

“I think I can make a payment,” I say before her friend can carry on with her story. It’s not her voice I want to hear; it’s Mia’s. I have a short window of time and I need to get a lot accomplished in it.

“Really?” Mia perks up. “We've been trying to reach you all day and well-”

“You haven't been trying to reach me.” I cut her off. As much as I love to hear her speak, I want her to know it’s only her I’ll be taking calls from.

“He’s been hanging up on everyone until we got you on the line!” This time her friend doesn't whisper at all.

“Amelia,” Mia half shouts at her friend.

“I’ll pay a quarter of the collection,” I tell her.

“Okay. Then we can set up payment plans for the rest?” I hear her clicking away on what I assume is her computer. I picture her in a horrible cubicle with no windows.

“I wasn't finished. There was an if coming.” I sit up in my chair readying myself for battle. I know this might be a fight. Who agrees to meet with a man they have only talked to on the phone? Furthermore only about collecting a debt on lingerie? I am already at a major disadvantage but I didn't build my company into what it is without knowing how to face a challenge. No matter the problem put in front of me I refuse to lose. There’s always a solution. Mia becoming my wife is the only one I’m interested in.

“An if?” Even confused she’s still fucking adorable. My sister thinks she’s making my life harder when really this is the most fun I’ve had in a very long time. I should have Mark buy her a little thank you present—after I meet Mia and make her mine, of course. I don’t need Kim interfering and ruining my chances.

“If you meet me for dinner, I’ll pay the first quarter of the debt.” The line goes quiet. I can hear her whisper to her friend what I said.

“That is a terrible idea,” her friend responds. Well shit. Maybe this plan isn’t going to work. Not that it will stop me. I’ll just have to adjust and approach this differently. Where there is a will there is always a way. When I set my eyes on something, nothing can stop me. Even though I haven’t actually seen my little angel, I know she is perfect for me. “What time are you going to meet him?” She adds half a beat later. I think I like this friend of hers after all. She is going to be rather helpful.
