Saga buries her face into my neck as she clings to me. One of the bouncers from the club is standing by the side door smoking. He narrows his eyes as he sees us coming. Recognition colors his face and he pulls the door open wide.

“Hurry,” he barks.

I push harder and dart inside. I hear more than see the door slam shut behind us. I look over my shoulder to see we’re alone.

Turning, I back Saga against a wall and sag into her. Pressing my forehead to the wall beside her head, I inhale deeply. It’s as I catch my breath that I start to register the heat of her pussy against my waist.

I lift my head and look into her eyes. Heat flickers back at me. My cock twitches, demanding to get at her. My eyes fall on her lips.

With her eyes on mine, she unwraps her legs and slides down my front. I don’t give her much room, causing her body to press close to mine. She can’t hide the lust that comes to the surface.

“Oww,” she whimpers when she lands on her feet.

She tips to the right, but I grasp her in my hold. Her face contorts in pain. I look down at her ankle to see it’s already swelling.

“Damn,” I say in annoyance with myself and the situation. “Put your weight on me.”

I press a kiss to the wrinkle on her forehead. I can see she’s in pain. Pulling my phone from my pocket, I dial Dwayne. He’s probably pissed as fuck that I darted off without him.

“I’m trying to get through this crowd,” Dwayne snarls into the phone.

“Go back to the front of the club. I’ll carry her out that way,” I bite out.

“Carry her? What’s going on?”

“Saga hurt her ankle. I need to get her to a hospital.”

“I don’t have insurance,” she whimpers.

I purse my lips at her but ignore her protest. I bark out a few more instructions before Ed and Jared arrive in the hall we’re standing in.

“She all right?” Ed asks.

“She hurt her ankle. Let’s get out of here. We need to go through the front,” I say.

Ed, my second-in-command of my security team, nods. I lift Saga in my arms, pulling a yelp from her lips. I kiss her temple and murmur soothing words as I carry her through the parting crowd Ed and Jared lead us through.

“This is embarrassing,” she huffs into my neck. “Only me.”

“I’ll make it up to you, promise,” I reply.

“This wasn’t your fault.”

I tighten my lips. It was, but I don’t want to argue about it. If I weren’t sniffing around her like a horny teenager, this wouldn’t have happened.

Pull your shit together, man.

CHAPTER 14

I’m Here

Saga

Dwayne ushers us into the SUV and closes the door behind us before he jumps into the front passenger seat. Bishop sits with me in the back, pulling my legs into his lap, then takes my shoe from my foot. As we settle in, the adrenaline and alcohol begin to wear off.

Tears spring to my eyes and I suck my lip into my mouth, allowing a whimper to slip. My ankle is throbbing like nobody’s business. I don’t realize the tears start to spill over until Bishop reaches to cup my face in his hands as he swipes them away.

I release my lower lip and purse them against the pain instead. Bishop gets this look in his eyes and I feel terrible. This isn’t his fault. I drop my eyes to my lap.

“Look at me,” he murmurs, causing me to snap my gaze back to his. “What can I do? We’ll get you to a hospital as soon as we can, but tell me how to get your mind off the pain.”

“Bishop, I don’t have insurance. You can take me back to the bus. I’ll put some ice on it. It’s not broken. I don’t think.”

He grunts and snorts. “You don’t think. Saga, I’m taking you to the hospital and I’m taking care of the bill. We’re going to make sure it’s not broken.”

I release a heavy sigh as my lips begin to tremble. I’m in so much pain. It’s increasing by the second. Bishop’s eyes drop to my lips as he looks longingly at them.

I’m almost tempted to lean in and kiss him. However, I know that’s only the alcohol in my system talking. At least, that’s what I tell myself.

Instead of kissing me, like his eyes say he wants to, he places his forehead to mine as if trying to give me some of his strength. I ball my fists into his shirt, taking all he’s trying to give. I know I shouldn’t, I should pull away and move back across the seat.

I have so many conflicting feelings going on inside me. I don’t know if it’s the songs, the alcohol, the dancing or a combination of it all, but I feel this intense connection to him right now.
