“Babe, maybe we should reschedule. You need to rest,” I say.

“I can rest after we have this time together. This is important to me.”

“It’s not like I’m going anywhere. If you wear yourself out, then what? I want you healthy, Bishop.”

He places a kiss on my lips. “I’m fine, baby. Tonight is what we both need. I’m doing this for us.”

I side-eye him. I want to spend time with him too, but we could have done that at home. Not wanting to argue about it, I purse my lips.

Bishop gives me that cocky grin I know him for. “I pay attention to detail. I know you’re going to love it. I know you, baby,” he says.

I laugh. “Yeah, you do. You’re beginning to know me better than I know myself,” I purr.

Seeming to shake the moment off, he cups the back of my head and tugs me in for another kiss. We get lost in each other, tongues dancing. I tangle my fingers in his hair and open for him to kiss me deeper.

“I love you.” He looks down at me with so much love in his eyes.

I can’t help looking back at him with the same. My thoughts go to the necklace and pendant inside my bag. I can’t wait to give him the gift.

“I love you too,” I say and lean to kiss him again.

He places a hand on my thigh and gives it a squeeze. Disappointment fills me when he pulls away to look over my head out the window.

“We’re here.”

I turn to look out of the window. The sign for the property comes into view and a smile takes over my face. I turn to Bishop and look him in the eyes.

He does pay attention to details. Without question, he knows me so well. I mentioned loving this brand of wine and wanting to try their new line of brandy.

He’s brought me to their vineyard and inn. I’ve read somewhere that they provide the ultimate exclusive experience here. Romantic dinners and tastings.

“This is so me,” I squeal and hug my arms around myself. “Oh my God, Bishop, you do know me so well.”

He kisses the back of my head and I melt right on the spot. How did I get so lucky? I think I fall deeper in love with him as we sit here.

CHAPTER 39

Something New

Saga

I. Am. In. Heaven. This is the best date ever from the private chef, who I get the feeling Bishop brought in himself to the wine tasting and tour of the vineyard to this romantic hayride.

I sit between Bishop’s long legs, a blanket wrapped around us. The evening is quiet other than the sound of the carriage wheels and the hooves of the horses. I look up at the stars, feeling like I’m in a dream. Bishop tightens his arms around me.

“Tell me what you’re thinking,” he murmurs into the top of my head.

“This is really my life. I never would have thought I would say that a few months ago. I was so afraid I’d never find my way back to me,” I say softly.

“You’re here now and you’ll never have that fear again.”

“I know. It’s still surreal.”

“Are you happy?”

I snuggle deeper into his embrace. Then I look back at him. He gives me a sleepy smile.

“Yes, I’m very happy. I’ll be happier when I see you rested.”

He pecks my lips. “Stop worrying about me. This is relaxing and I’m enjoying myself. I have my woman in my arms, we’re on a date, and she’s happy. I’m good, baby. Promise.”

“Oh, I have something for you,” I say, feeling like this is the perfect moment to give him my gift.

“For me?” he says, lifting a brow.

“Yes, for you. I have a gift for my husband. Where did my clutch go?”

With a chuckle, he reaches for my bag and hands it to me. I give him a smile and open my bag to pull the box out. My heart races with excitement.

I turn to face him and hand him the box. His brows are knit as he takes it from me. I bite my lip as I watch him pull the wrapping off and open it.

His blue eyes light up immediately. I let out a sigh of relief as he breaks into a huge smile. He lifts his gaze to mine as he pulls the chain and pendant from the box.

“I love this, baby,” he says, his voice full of emotion.

“Really?”

“Yes,” he croons.

He drops the box and leans in to capture my lips, palming the back of my head as he devours my mouth. He kisses me with so much passion my toes curl. When he pulls away, I’m breathless.

“It’s not too much or too feminine? Maybe they can remove the heart,” I say nervously.

I’ve been agonizing over my choice for days. Thinking it wasn’t as perfect as I first thought. I probably shouldn’t have gone with the first one I saw.
