Ezra chuckled. “Okay, fine. The growing old part came later. You know…we’re going to do all this too. I’m gonna buy you a house, build you a room for telescopes, and another for your history gear. I’ll make sure you have a fully stocked library and that no one pilfers your fridge.”
I smiled, slipping my arm around his waist. “I don’t need things, Ezra. Only you. I love you, Ezra.”
“I love you too.”
He kissed me, sweet and tender, and pulled back to gaze at me adoringly. I returned the gesture, then rested my head on his chest.
This was sacred ground for us. This was where we began. This was where we learned acceptance, patience, how to find common ground, when to fight, when to yield, and how to love.
It was page one in our history book, but there was so much more to come.
