“My mom and dad are taking the kids tonight for a sleepover, so we’ll have the house all to ourselves tonight,” she says moving around the room. I thought she was putting laundry away but she’s packing a small overnight bag for Emma instead.
“I see.”
“I wonder what we can get up to tonight,” she says. She’s off tomorrow so I do know that it’ll be a late night.
After the kids leave, we eat a quick dinner. I do the dishes while she takes a quick shower. She’s singing an old Carrie Underwood song loudly while she does so which makes me smile.
“Come to bed, Daniel,” she calls. I don’t need to be told twice.
I can get lost in her over and over, never tiring of her or the life we lead. Everything is better because she knocked on my door that cold, snowy day ten years ago.
I love this woman with my whole being. She’s not only my wife and the mother of my children, but she’s also my best friend and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I can’t wait to see what the rest of our lives hold in store for us.
