His dark hair mussed in the salty breeze, beads of sweat rolling down the grooves in his abdomen as he drew closer. My blood heated, a deep hunger settling itself in my core. A primal song of mine sang with each beat of my heart.

I loved this man.

Loved who he was—the perfect body and super-star job were simply bonuses. I’d fallen for him when I hadn’t had a clue how much money he made, so at least he knew how real my affection was. How deep it ran.

I flashed him a hungry smile as he winked up at me, slowing his run to turn into the beach house.

I could live here, I realized. Stay in this fantasy forever.

But, it wasn’t the beach or the wonderful house or the fact that I had Logan all to myself for the past few days. It was simply him.

“What are you smiling at?” Logan asked, slightly out of breath, as he stepped onto the balcony, toweling off his face and chest. “Did the book have a happy ending?”

I brightened as I turned toward him, but remained leaning against the balcony. “Not sure,” I said. “I haven’t finished it yet.”

He raised his brows, tossing the towel in the corner. “Then what has you so happy?” He smirked, clearly knowing the answer already.

“You,” I admitted, and his eyes brightened.

“Is that right?” He stalked toward me, slow, predatory.

I slid my hands over his incredible chest when he’d breached the distance between us. I tilted my head, gazing up at him.

“Yes,” I said, emotion filling me so much I could barely get past the words. “You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met, Logan Ward. Have I ever told you that?”

He smiled and nodded, grazing his nose over mine.

Damn, even after a run the man smelled like a fucking dream.

“I don’t know what I did to deserve you,” I said, my words a whisper.

“We deserve each other,” he said, his hands grazing down my bare sides. “You’re my match in every single way.”

I bit back on my argument against that fact—I wasn’t a multi-million-dollar celebrity. But, as he’d drilled into my head and my heart, to him I was.

And that meant everything.

“I love you,” I said, reaching up on my tiptoes to brush a kiss over his lips. “So much.”

“More than you’ll ever know,” he said against my lips, and I trembled as his arms snaked around my back, drawing me flush against him. “I need to shower,” he growled against my neck. “Meet me in the bed?”

I laughed, biting my lip. I shook my head, and his eyes darkened. “The shower, conveniently, is big enough for two. And it has a bench.”

Another growl rumbled from his chest.

“How convenient,” he said. “Let’s—”

His cell phone sang from his pocket, and he blew out a breath, shaking his head like he’d ignore it.

“Get it,” I said, chuckling. “We have plenty of time.”

He cocked a brow at me. “Forever?”

I nodded, my skin practically glowing. “Forever,” I answered.

He fished his cell from his pocket. “Go start the shower.”

I saluted him, then hurried past him to do exactly that.

The water had just started to warm up when Logan stopped in the bathroom entryway, his eyes wide, his lips parted on some silent shock.

I straightened my spine and flipped the water off.

“What is it?” I asked, shutting the shower glass door behind me.

“We have to get home soon,” he said, slightly breathless. A shocked smile shaped his lips.

“Why?” I asked, stepping toward him, relief dousing that initial panic as I saw his smile. I slid my fingers up his solid chest before wrapping my arms around his neck. I planted kisses along the column of his throat, relishing the low growl that rumbled at my touch.

“Got the call for an all hands on deck,” he said and gripped my hips, planting a quick kiss over my lips before tugging me back.

“Because…” I let the sentence hang there, unable to not smile as Logan laughed, shaking his head.

“You’ll never believe who Cannon Price just came home married to.”
