Whoa. “I think Lou needs a break.”

Lou turned his way. “This is too important. I’d also like some time with this evidence they have.”

“That has to wait until the higher-ups give my handler the go ahead,” Oliver announced. “So we should feel free to enjoy the club this evening. Say, I was wondering if anyone is putting us up for the night? We’re supposed to be in Toronto.”

“Yes, where you would have taken my kidnapped sub.” TJ stood beside Lou. “Who hasn’t had a break in days.”

Charlotte was beside her husband, whispering in his ear. His uncle sighed, blue eyes rolling. “Fine. Lou, despite the fact that we’re in the middle of something dangerous and important, please take the evening off to play with my…with the sergeant. See if your vagina can get any answers out of him. As for you…” He looked at Kenzie. “This is a mistake.”

“But it’s mine to make,” she replied steadily.

His uncle sighed and took his aunt’s hand. “Zach, you deal with the Brits however you see fit. I’m out of here for the night. We’ll get back together tomorrow when hopefully I’ve got all the intel I need.”

“Knight, you got a credit card?” Zach asked, not looking up from his notes.

“Of course,” Oliver replied.

“Good, there’s a motel a couple blocks over. They charge by the hour.” Zach stood, gathering his things. “Have fun. And take the Canadian with you.”

TJ wasn’t sure the Canadian wouldn’t be staying with his cousin. Who was walking a fine line.

But none of that meant a damn thing because he was about to play with Lou, and no matter what happened he knew he would remember the night forever.

Chapter Twelve

Lou looked at herself in the mirror and wondered what the hell she was doing. She should be on her computer waiting for the intel to come in so she could take it apart and get TJ off the hook so he could go back to his job and she could go back to hers and they would normalize again.

Instead, she’d poured her body into a corset and skimpy boy shorts and let Kala do her makeup.

“Hold still.” Kala had a curling iron in her hand now, giving Lou beachy waves. “I do not know what my sister is thinking.”

Kala had been raging about her twin the whole time she’d been helping Lou get ready.

“Oh, I know what she’s thinking.” They had friends. Or an audience. Daisy O’Donnell and Brianna Dean-Miles had been hanging around the locker room. They’d returned from New York but TJ’s sister had stayed because of work. Daisy flashed an angelic smile. “She’s thinking she can boost our relationship with Canada through her vagina.”

Brianna gasped and lightly tapped her friend on the arm. “Dais, you’re terrible.”

Daisy tended to call things like she saw them. Unless her dad was around, and then she said whatever would convince the man she was the sweetest angel on earth and all the bad stuff that happened to her was a tragedy and not something she often brought on herself by being the most reckless woman Lou had ever met.

“Well, I got a glimpse of the man.” Daisy had on jeans and a sweatshirt that proved she had no intention of playing this evening. She’d been curled up on one of the sofas working on her laptop when Lou had walked in. She was apparently studying for her real estate license test.

And Brianna had been helping her by eating chocolate chip cookies and holding the timer while she watched a movie on her phone.

The Hideout was for more than play. It was a place they came to when they needed to hang out, to be together the way they had when they were kids.

Well, except for all the sex toys. Those were new.

“I don’t get it.” Kala tugged on her hair, twirling around the iron. “I mean, he’s fine and all, but he’s obviously a douche.”

Daisy and Bri shared a look, some silent conversation going on between them.

“You don’t have to get it,” Lou replied. “It’s Kenzie’s thing. I think it’s good you’re not attracted to the same guys. She’s got zero interest in Cooper.”

“Cooper isn’t…” Kala stopped, her jaw tightening. “All I’m saying is I think the guy’s trouble.”

“Because he’s a foreign operative?” Daisy asked, her eyes lighting up with curiosity.

Damn. A curious Daisy was a dangerous Daisy. “Operative? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Kala groaned. “They’re not dumb, Lou. Dad had a meeting in the conference room when he barely likes to set foot in here unless he’s complaining about the place. The Brits show up and then a weird Canadian? They’re going to put two and two together.”

“So it is an op.” Brianna breathed the words like they were magic. “Right here in our club.”

“You understand you’re not supposed to know about the spy stuff, right?” Kala asked.
