Daisy’s eyes rolled. “Yeah, because you would be this happy working for your dad doing security checks. Everyone knows. No one is talking. We’re family. We don’t gossip. Well, with outsiders that is. Besides, Aunt Charlotte came through and told us we should avoid talking to Kenzie and the hot guy tonight. She asked if we wouldn’t mind sticking to the locker room. I wasn’t planning on playing so it was no biggie, but Chloe Lodge is out there and probably spitting bile Seth’s way. What is up with that?”

Lou shrugged. “No idea. They rubbed each other the wrong way once long ago, and they’ve been weird enemies ever since.”

“Like Seth doesn’t want her,” Kala said with a sigh. “But back to the relevant point. I know everyone suspects, but it’s important not to blow our cover.”

“My brother is on your team,” Brianna pointed out. “And Daisy’s brother has been my brother’s best friend forever. Of course we know. I think you should view this whole club as an asset. If you listen to my parents, the world has been saved many times because someone took someone else to a club and fixed the problem with proper use of BDSM.”

Kala snorted.

“It happens more often than you would think,” Daisy added.

“Do you have any idea where Tris is?” Lou was curious.

Brianna sighed and sat back in her chair. “I don’t know, but I did overhear my dads talking. I think Papa knows more than he’s telling, and Dad is mad about it. Mom…well, my mom believes in true love, and there’s nothing my brother could do to hurt her more than walking away from the love of his life.”

“Yeah, it’s not doing my brother any good either,” Daisy admitted.

But there was something about the way Daisy said the words. When Daisy believed something, she said it with her whole being. This was said under her breath.

It was funny because Kala seemed to pick it up, too, her head swiveling in precise time with Lou’s as they both looked at the brunette beauty.

Daisy’s eyes widened. “Uhm, wow, see sometimes I forget you’re like deadly and stuff, but then you look at me like that.”

It was good she had a killer stare. She was so often underestimated. “What do you know?”

“Know? I know a lot of things.” Daisy looked a little flustered.

Kala held that curling iron like it was a weapon. “What do you know about Tristan?”

Brianna frowned her friend’s way. “You’re supposed to be better at this. You are the queen of looking innocent.”

Daisy shrugged. “Well, they throw me off when they go all predatory. Especially Lou. And honestly, I wouldn’t hate them looking into it because I don’t know what’s going on. Aidan and Carys are acting like they’re so mad at Tris and they’re going through with the wedding without him, but I swear I’ve heard them talking. I was out at my brother’s place last week and it was super late. I got up to grab some water and he was out on the porch, pacing and talking, and I swear it had to be Tristan. He was asking him when it would be over. I don’t know what it is. Then he saw me and hung up. He said he was talking to someone at the hospital, but I know what I heard.”

Brianna seemed to come to some kind of decision. “I think my brother might be in over his head. I know my dad is worried about him. I can’t tell if he knows what’s going on, but he knows something, and he’s not even telling my mom.”

Lou looked up at Kala, who nodded.

They were thinking the same thing. Tristan was working a job. A dangerous one, and they needed to figure out how deep he’d gone.

“We’ll take care of it,” Lou promised.

Still, both women looked to Kala.

“We will,” Kala confirmed.

She was going to have to work on her street cred.

“See, I told you we should put it all in the hands of our spy girls,” Brianna said.

“She did,” Daisy agreed. “But I was worried. I don’t want to betray my brother, but I think he’s getting in over his head. And I should know because I’m always in over my head. So now that’s out of the way, is it true you’re finally doing TJ?”

Lou felt a flush go through her system, and she turned back to the mirror. “It’s part of the op. You know how the Brits are here? Well, they know about our team, but Ben Parker doesn’t. I can’t talk about it, but it was necessary for the op that he believes we’re dating.”

“Ooo, you’re fake dating,” Brianna said with a whistle. “It’s my mom’s third favorite trope, only defeated by enemies to lovers and friends to lovers. I think she mostly wants the characters to be lovers.”
