“A donation?”

She waves her hand. “Two million is the standard. But I imagine you are not the ordinary.” This time she leans forward, nothing but malice in her gaze. “And perhaps… dinner.”

Her brother scoffs. “When was the last time you actually dined with a man?”

“There are different types of delicacies.” She looks me up and down, biting her bottom lip.

“I’m married.” I shut her down.

I probably would have taken her up on her offer a few weeks ago because why not? She is, by definition, beautiful and poised. But she is not Rya.

She lifts a brow at my empty ring finger but says nothing about it. “And what will you be offering at the first auction? Aside from your generous donation,” she asks with another smile.

Dawson clears his throat. “That would be me.”

“Well, well, well…” She leans back with an appreciative glance. “Mr. Dawson in the flesh. What could you possibly get from being on auction when you can already fetch such a high price for your services?”

He shrugs casually. “A change of scenery, perhaps. It is, after all, foreplay, isn’t it?”

Anya’s mischievous smile widens. “I must confess, I’m exquisitely happy to have you join us this Friday night at midnight.”

She offers a sleek black card with only an address. “Welcome to the Ivanov Auctions.”

Dominic leans over and takes the card, pocketing it.

Not long later, we leave the luxurious hotel, and I look at my phone.

No reply from Rya.

Dammit!

No surprise there.

And yet, her stubbornness brings a tight smile to my lips. The little vixen.

“Perhaps I should be asking for a generous donation as well,” Dawson says, standing beside me.

“Maybe your rates are too cheap, and you should learn to ask for more.”

He chuckles at that.

“Are you sure about this? Once it’s done, there’s no going back,” Dominic warily adds.

My jaw tics, and I glare at him. Since coming to New York, he’s questioned my methods multiple times. He doesn’t understand what it takes to clean these houses, and this is nothing more than another cleanse. Granted, they made it personal when Rya was put in danger.

He grows silent and nods, opening the car door for me.

Everything is beginning to roll, and next will be the new head of the Torrisi family.

CHAPTER 31

Rya

He’s standing out front of my work, leaning against his car, waiting for me. He’s been sending me more emails, telling me about his day. I thought my lack of response might offer a hint, but Mr. Monti played within his own insufferable league.

Dear Miss Ricci

I am most apologetic about the sweet little red pieces I cut.

Let me make it up to you.

Dear Miss Ricci

I will quite enjoy when you sit on my face and let me eat you out, wifey.

Dear Miss Ricci

It is not in your favor that you don’t reply to my emails and requests.

Or maybe you like being tied up and treated like a very bad girl.

I can’t help but smile at some of these email messages, and the thoughts of what he promises are absolutely tempting. It wasn’t until one of my work colleagues pointed out that I was smiling that I realized I was doing it. Now that I’m conscious of the fact I am doing this, I am hyperaware and try my hardest not to give them any response.

Even though I open them immediately after I receive them. I simply can’t help it.

“Looking absolutely delicious as usual, princess.” He reaches for me and pulls me into him. “I see you’ve been reading my emails all week.”

My hands rest on his chest as I look up at him. “You send one every day, sometimes twice. And I thought I told you to stop coming to my work.”

“I contemplated sending one every time you crossed my mind but figured that was too many, and you may not be impressed with that.” He winks and possessively grabs my jaw, adding, “And you don’t give me orders.” Before I can reply, he leans down and kisses me. It’s soft at first, then his hand slides to the back of my head, and he becomes more demanding. His other hand pushes my ass even closer to him, closing any space there was between us.

“Bye, Rya,” one of my colleagues says as she walks past.

Shit. People are becoming accustomed to him being around.

I pull back and offer a wave without looking.

His thumb swipes at the bottom of my lip. “You have lipstick everywhere,” he says.

“That’s because you molested me,” I grumble.

He smirks, then pulls back and opens the car door. He motions for me to get in.

“I have plans for us tonight,” he tells me as I climb in.

“Plans? Maybe I have my own plans.”

“What did we say about lying? Would you like me to punish you now?” His face is close to mine, his dark gaze penetrating. He waits for me to answer, but I simply grin. When I say nothing in return, he shuts the door, walks around to his side, and slides in next to me.
