“Stay here. I’ll send him on his way.”
Daisy watched him walk to the entrance of the alcove and step slightly into the hallway. Without hesitating, she dashed behind him and escaped to the bar. Hiding behind the wooden counter, she whispered to Riley, “Don’t react. Get Bear.”
In just a few minutes, the immense man walked in as he checked over the club. Daisy was relieved when Riley suddenly invented a reason to get him to the bar.
Chapter Three
“Hey, Dungeon Master. I’ve got a new whiskey for you to sample,” Riley called across the social gathering area of Blaze as Tarson walked in to look around.
“I don’t drink while I’m on duty,” he answered curtly. Everyone knew that was the rule.
“At least come sniff this. You’ll want to come back after your shift is over.” She coaxed him to approach.
“Sniff it?” Tarson shook his head as he walked her way. Had Riley been drinking too much? That wasn’t like her at all. As he approached, she waved him around the bar.
“Careful. Glance down, but try not to look obvious,” Riley whispered to him from the corner of her mouth as she held the bottle toward his nose.
“Check this out,” she announced louder for the crowd gathered around the bar.
Instantly, Tarson’s warning radar sounded. Something wasn’t right here. As he dipped his head to sniff, Tarson saw a huddled figure pressed as small as possible against the wooden barrier.
“Teddy?” A small sound whispered from the back of the bar. “Can you get me out of here? I’m scared.”
Daisy! The nickname the Littles didn’t think he knew about clued him in on how frightened she had to be. He dropped a hand down to stroke over her silky blonde hair to reassure her. Tarson didn’t stop to question why she was hiding. The Little had a good reason.
“That smells amazing, Riley. I’ll look forward to sampling it soon.”
Tarson walked to the supply cabinet and grabbed a folded black tablecloth. Nonchalantly walking back to the bar, he searched for a way to create a distraction. A flash of movement captured his attention as Blaze’s resident shibari expert appeared. Milo’s rope demonstrations were extremely popular.
“Hey, Knot Master! When’s the next performance? Weren’t you looking for volunteers?” Tarson sacrificed the experienced member to the eager crowd. He’d apologize later.
As everyone swarmed to speak to Milo Dante, Tarson wrapped the tablecloth around Daisy and carried her into the office unseen. Sitting down in the large chair, he freed the small figure from the material. The sight of her tear-stained face thrust a stake through his heart. Instantly, he was ready to pounce on whoever had hurt her.
“Teddy!” Daisy threw herself against his chest and wrapped her arms around his neck, holding on tightly. “I knew you’d help me!”
“Baby girl. Who do I need to kill?” Tarson growled, his protective instincts on the verge of a rampage.
“Just hold me. I’ll be okay. He just spooked me. I should have handled it better,” she rushed to reassure him.
“No one should scare a Little. Who was it?”
“I don’t want to tell you his name. I’m sure he was just playing too hard.”
“Name, Baby girl.”
She blinked her pretty blue eyes at him. “He called himself Daddy Leo. I don’t know him well.”
“I know him.”
Tarson shifted to pull his walkie-talkie from his belt. Phones were not allowed inside the club to avoid pictures being shared of play. “Evan, find Leo Miller and escort him from the club. He’s no longer a member of Blaze.”
“What reason do I tell him?” Evan’s voice sounded tinny over the device.
“He’ll know. Oh, and Hector is still monitoring the entrance. Fill him in about Leo, please.”
“Will do.”
With that, Tarson turned off the sound and tossed the walkie on the desk. He ran his hands lightly over her body, checking for anything sore. “Did he hurt you?”
“No. He wanted to spank me, but I didn’t like it. He only managed one rough swat. I don’t even know why he thought I needed a spanking,” Daisy protested.
“Good job, Baby girl. Next time, you yell,” he instructed.
“I didn’t want to ruin everyone else’s fun.”
A knock came at the door and it opened before Tarson could respond. Evan leaned inside as Daisy hid her face against Tarson’s chest. “She okay, boss? The asshole’s gone. Davis is spending time with the Littles to calm them down. He walked in at just the right time.”
“Good. Davis will make sure everyone is okay. He’ll read everyone a story.” Tarson knew the handsome silver fox with the kind voice and impeccable manners would reassure everyone.
“I’ve got the floor for the night,” Evan assured him. Tarson understood the message from the floor monitor that he should take his time with Daisy.
“Thank you, Evan.”
“Little girl,” Evan called for Daisy’s attention.
When she turned her head to meet his gaze, Evan said softly, “None of this is your fault. According to all the Littles, you didn’t provoke his treatment in any way.”
