“Hello, officer,” I tease from my position at the foot of the bed, wagging my brows at the sight in front of me.

His eyes darken with a predatory stare. “It’s Sheriff, Miss. You look like trouble. I wonder if you’re going to be needing these at some point.” He waves his cuffs in front of me. My heart picks up, my pulse racing at the idea of him cuffing and fucking me.

“I’m sure I can find some offenses to commit.”

“Later.” He licks his lips, focusing his gaze between my thighs, and I snap my legs closed to keep my pussy juices exposing my need.

I hop off the bed. “Let’s go and get my bag before you’re late.”

Wrapping up in one of his flannels over my top and my leggings, we walk outside to his SUV and move past his Harley. “So, I know you’re a Rider. Will you take me on your bike?”

“Yes, babe. If you want me to, I’ll bring it to the cookout, and then we’ll ride back on it.”

I bounce up and down, squealing with excitement. I’ve always wanted to be on the back of his bike. I’ve only seen him ride by one time in my life. Of course, I’d seen the other Steele Riders with their women on the back of their bikes, but his back had been empty, and I longed to be the woman on the back with my arms wrapped around his powerful body, that muscled waist taut with power as he controls that steel beast, guiding it along the road and letting the wind blow past us.

“If you can’t tell, I’d love that.”

“Good. Now get back in that house. Please stay inside until someone gets you. It better not be Taylor, or I’ll rip Wrench’s balls off.”

I shake my head with a smirk. “Don’t be jealous. You’ve got no reason for it. You’re the only man I want.”

He grabs my ass hard, dragging me to his body and growls, “Mine.”

“Go be a hero, my caveman.” He kisses me once more before I run back inside and lock the door. From the window, I watch him drive away and smile until I feel a twinge in my hoo-ha. Shit, I need to soak, but it’s still pretty early. For now, I get back in bed and wrap myself in his covers to breathe in Jacob’s scent.

I wake up from my nap and it’s already ten, so I check my phone and I don’t have a message from Jacob. I’m surprised he didn’t send a quick text. I send him one.

Fell back asleep. Miss you. See you later.

I don’t want to sound too needy after last night. I see the dots like he’s typing, but nothing comes up. He doesn’t respond back, so I fill up the bath while I brush my teeth.

Then I strip out of my clothes and soak for about an hour. I need my muscles to feel good and I start thinking about my next book plot. I get so carried away, I let time fly and the water turns ice cold. I try to wash up, but it’s useless, so I jump in the shower and get clean in five minutes.

I dry off and get ready in a cute sundress for the barbecue. He doesn’t have a blow dryer, so I wrap my hair in a towel and take a walk around the house. He didn’t give me a tour, so I examine each room for myself. Finally I end up in the kitchen which I love because it’s cute, modern, slate gray and black, but it’s messy. We ate dinner and got carried away last night without cleaning up our mess.

Once I’m done with that, I check my phone and still no message from Jacob.

I tuck it into my dress pocket. It’s one of the reasons I picked this dress out because who doesn’t love a dress with pockets. After checking out the hall bathroom, I walk into the living room to be nosy. It’s a large room with beige sofas with white walls. Most of the house seems to be a blank slate. I wonder how long he’s lived here. Every room I enter is nearly empty and lacks décor.

My phone rings loudly in the silence shocking me and nearly sending it flying from my hands. “Hello,” I answer, thinking it’s Jacob.

“Hey, girl. You okay?”

“Oh hey, Mack. I’m good. I was cleaning up and the phone startled me. So are you able to come get me?”

“Yes, my dear. I was just calling to see when you’ll be ready.”

“I need to fix my hair and put on some makeup and then I should be good to go.”

“Okay. We’ll be there in about an hour.”

“Great.” I end the call and check the time. It’s already three in the afternoon, and I haven’t heard from Jake not once. He’s so busy that he can’t even type. ‘Hey I’m busy. Call you later.’ Still, I’m bothered by his lack of response, but I guess he is sheriff, after all.
