“Of course. For some of us, including me, this could be home, so keeping it in good shape is very important.”

Mrs. Taube nodded, showing them into an empty hall with a spiral staircase clinging to one of the walls and two tall windows that reached all the way to the ceiling, providing a vast quantity of light and making the large room seem even more spacious.

Laurent looked around with his nose wrinkling slightly and his hands in his pockets. “Would King like this though?” He looked at the sparkly ocean as if it offended him somehow.

Beast frowned, but he quickly turned it around and patted Laurent’s shoulder. “That’s for him to decide later, when he can come over.”

Laurent sighed but trod with the rest of them, lagging at the end as they went through building after building. Beast exerted his social skill muscles on showing Fox an area where his kid could play, telling Gray he could have all of the small building at the end of the property to himself, advertising the area for concerts as a place where Davy’s son, Lizzy could have his big breakthrough, and all the while dealing with any questions about living quarters and space for vehicles. He knew all the answers, and to be honest, if the world were fair, he should get half the realtor’s cut if all went well. He researched his head off for this, he buttered up the agency with chocolates presented to all the ladies in their office, and he would convince his brothers to put pressure on King.

But best of all was the shape of the property, which Beast himself was also viewing for the first time. No mold on the walls, everything was relatively clean, even if Laurent pointed out several months of disuse left behind a dusty, dry smell. It could be dealt with. Even the half-mouthed comments about the difficulty of moving everything the club owned across town could be somehow turned into a positive. Better environment for the kids when they visited. Lower upkeep cost in the long run. Starting fresh. Wiring that wasn’t constantly faulty and a health hazard. That last improvement would free up a lot of Knight’s time, as he was the one who dealt with all the electricals.

As they passed room after room, Beast was glad to hear his brothers come up with uses for the space, ideas for putting up extra walls. Laurent on the other hand was a pain in the ass, and despite the exhilarating ride Beast was beginning to regret bringing him with them in the first place.

He was acting like a fucking princess, finding faults in everything, as if he was even the one going to be paying for any of it. He was lucky to have a roof over his head at all. Beast had thought taking him along would serve his cause, that Laurent would be excited to see someplace new and appreciate being included so much that he’d compliment everything. But no.

“Would you have to put bars in all the windows?” Laurent asked with that kissable pout on a face Beast now wanted to smack. He didn’t understand the reason for Laurent’s behavior, and worst of all, he could see the comments starting to both agitate and rub off on the others, as if any fault in the property was an argument against moving to a different clubhouse.

Laurent had never acted like this before. Since the explosive first day, his relationship with Beast became civil, and really kind of pleasant. Hadn’t Beast helped him rip off that fucking face mask an hour ago? What the hell was his problem now?

When they left the main building, the sun had a slightly warmer hue and started to head lower down in the sky, so they must have spent an hour or two on the viewing, which was a very good sign in Beast’s book. The realtor gave him a folder with additional pictures, and he engaged her in pleasant conversation now that she had relaxed after being in their presence for such a long time.

“Does any of you have any questions?” Beast asked, sweeping his gaze over his brothers.

Gray raised his hand and pushed the other into the front pocket of his washed-out jeans. The silver strands looked so odd around his young, handsome face, as if he dyed them on purpose, as was the fashion among some women. “May I use the supervision area above the workshop for my apartment?”

Beast shrugged. A solitary place with no neighbors. A very fitting spot for Gray indeed. “Sure, anyone else?” His chest constricted in anticipation when Laurent raised his hand with that worried look on his face. What the fuck more did he want from the place? A jacuzzi and a private cinema?

“Are there any underground facilities here?” he asked the realtor, who blinked, stilling in surprise for a moment, so Laurent continued. “Our friend King said he was looking to create a dungeon, you see, for sexual practices. So I wanted to inquire in his name if that was a possibility.”
