Being around Daniel gave him the first taste of hope and goodness he’d had in so fucking long. How was he supposed to just let that go?

Of course, Daniel had him rethinking his career. It wasn’t the first time he’d thought of retiring, but that had always seemed like something far in the future. He was still in his prime, still good at his job—mistaken identities aside. He turned to look toward the bed. Daniel lay in a spill of moonlight, his slack face beautiful even in sleep. This man was making him want more things out of life, and it was certainly something to think about.

But now, he had to take him to Paris.

It was a mistake. He knew it in his gut. The attempts on their lives in Barcelona and through the Pyrenees were proof enough that he should have shipped Daniel home already. The longer this went on, the more attempts on Daniel’s life, the more likely it was that something was going to happen to him. Edward wasn’t sure he’d be able to live with himself if Daniel was hurt or killed.

If he put Daniel on a plane for the US that day…well, he’d definitely lose his job. Possibly end up in jail under some bullshit charges of treason or obstruction of justice. But Daniel would be safe.

Unless one of the other foreign agents saw Daniel getting on that plane and followed him to the US while Edward remained in Paris.

Fuck!

Sending him home wasn’t an option yet. Not until it was clear that Daniel wasn’t this rogue agent and the mission was officially closed.

Edward looked at Daniel’s sleeping form and sighed. They’d leave in the morning. No reason to wake him now.

Edward crawled back into the bed, and Daniel immediately rolled into the same position he’d been in before. Edward wrapped an arm around him and hauled him closer. Daniel nuzzled his neck. Edward took note of how hard his heart started beating as he tilted his head to sniff Daniel’s hair. They’d showered after their last round and Daniel smelled like hotel shampoo, but it worked on him. Clean and fresh.

Before he realized what he was doing, he’d pressed a kiss into that soft hair. God, he was in so much trouble. Edward drifted off to sleep feeling as if his heart was lodged in his throat. He didn’t let go of Daniel all night.

When he woke again, it was to find Daniel lying on his side and staring at Edward. He blinked the sleep from his eyes and couldn’t stop the smile that stretched his lips. Daniel smiled back, then rolled on top of him. He stared down at him, his hair sticking up all over the place. Then, he pressed a closemouthed kiss, a soft one, on Edward’s lips. Edward’s heart was instantly doing its rapid dance in his chest again as he ignored their morning breath and took the kiss deeper. He loved the way Daniel opened for his tongue.

Daniel moaned and started rubbing slowly against him. There was no urgency to his movements, just a leisurely glide of his dick alongside Edward’s. It felt so good, he thrust back and soon, they were moving faster against each other. One kiss followed another, sweat slicking between them. Edward reached down and took both of their cocks into his hand, jerking them together. Daniel made another noise, this one a strangled groan in his throat. His breath caught and he writhed atop of Edward.

Damn. The man was so fucking sexy and sweet, he made Edward’s teeth ache. He rubbed his thumb over the heads of their dicks, then increased the pressure of his hand on them as he languidly stroked them against each other.

Daniel gasped and rolled his hips and thrust harder into his hand.

It didn’t take long for Edward’s orgasm to barrel through him. Every muscle in his body went taut as he tipped over the edge and spilled all over his stomach. Daniel was right behind him, tensing and going completely still before he shuddered and came all over Edward.

Panting, Edward lay there recovering and when he opened his eyes, he found Daniel watching him again. This time neither smiled and something moved between them that sent his heart into overdrive. At this rate, the man was going to give him a heart attack.

“That’s a good way to start the day,” Daniel said, his voice an early morning rusty rumble.

“The best,” Edward agreed.

Daniel stretched his long body, his legs falling on either side of Edward’s as he sighed, then went loose and heavy on top of Edward. Guess he didn’t care about the mess between them.

Edward wrapped his arms around him and held him close, trying not to think about how right it felt to have the man so close to him. “I have good news and bad news,” he started.
