“Yeah, I’m going to be hidden, but I’m going to be right there with you every step of the way. No one is going to lay a finger on you if I can help it. I will get you out of there alive. I swear it.”

God help him, Daniel believed Edward. And for a second, it terrified him more than meeting with the spies and potentially getting killed in a meeting that could go horribly sideways. So, Daniel did the only thing he could think of to stop being afraid.

Reaching up, Daniel slipped his hand around the back of Edward’s head and pulled him down until he could slam his mouth over Edward’s. The other man hesitated for only a heartbeat before his lovely lips parted on a groan. Their tongues slid against one another, and Daniel couldn’t stop his own moan of pleasure. His mouth tasted of the red wine they’d enjoyed, tart and tangy.

Edward’s wonderfully big hands came in to play, pulling him against his hard body, molding them together until Daniel was no longer sure where he stopped and Edward started. Those hands slid down and cupped each ass cheek, squeezing and kneading them like Edward couldn’t get enough of touching him. Fire raced through Daniel’s veins and down to his cock until he was sure he was going to explode in his pants. He never wanted to stop kissing this man, but his skin felt too hot and tight. He wanted the clothes between them gone.

Tearing their mouths apart, Edward moved his lips along Daniel’s jaw, nipping and licking his earlobe. At the same time, he tightened his hold on Daniel’s upper thighs and picked him up. He found himself placed on a surface, possibly the dresser, where he could wrap his legs around Edward’s narrow hips. Oh, fuck yes…this is better. He could more easily grind his dick against Edward’s. Pleasure soared through him. He loved the desperate groan that rumbled up Edward’s chest. He’d caused that. Made this too-sexy man hard and sweaty for him.

“Need to get the lube and condoms,” Edward whispered in his ear. “I need back in you, baby.”

Some little nagging voice pulled Daniel out of the moment. Why had he been fighting this earlier when it felt so damn good?

Because he wasn’t Edward’s “baby.”

Because Edward was a liar.

Because Edward was using him just to complete a job.

Because Daniel was afraid he was going to get attached to a man he’d never see again once Edward had his information.

“No,” Daniel choked out. He pushed Edward away. The man instantly released him and took a step backward. “We can’t. I…I’m just here to help you get this information. That’s it.”

Edward glared at Daniel and took another step away from where Daniel leaned against the wall while sitting with his legs spread wide on the dresser. He reached down and adjusted the hard-on clearly straining against the front of his jeans. “Then I guess I’m going to take a shower.”

Daniel sat unmoving as Edward stalked across the room to the bathroom. It was only when the door slammed shut behind him that Daniel released a sigh of relief. He reached down and adjusted his own hard and leaking cock. He’d never meant to lead Edward on. Things had just gotten out of hand so damn fast.

Fuck…he was going to need a shower too if he was going to get rid of his hard-on.

Chapter Seven

Daniel nodded to the host who showed him to the empty table. He tugged nervously at the cuffs of his sleeves and took a quick sip of the water a server almost instantly deposited in his glass upon his arrival.

La Plassohla was on the first floor of the Ohla hotel where they were staying and was supposed to be the brainchild of a French chef who’d acquired a coveted Michelin star at a surprisingly young age. If Daniel wasn’t already nervous as hell about the upcoming meeting, he would have been looking forward to an incredible meal. As it was, he felt it was unlikely that he’d even remember tasting anything he was served.

Behind him was a wall of windows looking out on Carrer Comtal, a busy street full of interesting shops, restaurants, and wandering pedestrians. He and Edward had moseyed down it earlier in the day as they went over their plans for the meeting. Daniel was sure he could recite everything Edward had told him word for word, but it didn’t make him feel any more prepared.

After the aborted make-out session the night before, they didn’t talk much until the next day. He’d accompanied Edward to get a rental car and go over their plans. Then the sexy man was all business.

They’d already packed up all their belongings and moved them to the rental car, which was in a garage several blocks away from the restaurant. If anything went wrong with the meeting, Daniel was supposed to run for the car. Spare keys were in the rear passenger wheel well. Edward had said that he was to drive on to France and wait for him in Toulouse. Edward never said how he was getting to Toulouse if they separated, but Daniel was sure the spy had his tricks.
