The property manager met us on the porch and handed over the keys, then explained a few of the villa’s amenities before he took off. Micah and I brought our luggage inside, and he asked, “Do you want to get some rest after that long trip?”

“I’m too excited. Let’s go check out the beach.” His smile lit up his face.

After we cut through the airy, green and white living room, we stepped through the double doors at the back of the house. Then we both just had to pause for a moment to take it all in.

Lush tropical plants gave way to a wide, sandy beach. Beyond it, the emerald green water was dotted with rounded, towering rock formations, which formed a protected cove.

We took off our socks and shoes and rolled up our jeans. Then we walked out onto the soft sand and strolled hand-in-hand at the water’s edge. The gentle surf washed over our feet, and a warm breeze mingled the sweet smell of jasmine with the briny scent of the sea. The best part, though, was the beautiful man at my side.

I murmured, “I feel like I’m dreaming.”

“Me too, and I never want to wake up.”

“Thank you so much for bringing me here.”

“This is just the start. I can’t wait to show you the world, Jasper.”

I stopped walking and put my arms around him as the surf splashed against our ankles. “I adore you. I hope you know that.”

“I adore you, too.”

My smile turned teasing. “Oh, yeah?”

Micah grinned at me and nodded. “I even have proof.” He took something from his pocket and slipped it onto my finger. My breath caught as I looked down at the ring. It was composed of two platinum bands woven together, one inset with dark blue sapphires, the other with aquamarine gemstones. “Please say you’ll marry me.”

I yelled, “Yes! God yes. A million times yes!” We both burst out laughing, and he lifted me off my feet and swung me in a circle.

I wrapped my arms and legs around him and gave him a huge hug. After a moment, I whispered, “My future seemed so bleak before I met you, but everything’s different now. All I see ahead of me is a lifetime of love and happiness.”

Micah held me securely and rested his forehead against mine. “That’s exactly what I see, too.”
