His hips bucked and he attempted to roll her over, but she held him down by his shoulders. “I want to do this.” She met his gaze, willing him to understand. “I need to be in control.”

To show him what she could give to him. That this relationship wasn’t one-sided. She wasn’t just here to hide away from the world, to take his help and support, and to sneak into his bed at night. She needed him to see her as someone capable of giving back when he needed her. Though she was young, she could be his partner if he’d let her. She’d already proven she could listen and give him advice. Now she wanted to show she could soothe him in other ways, too.

She caught the easing of his expression, and his muscles released beneath her touch. He was giving her what she needed. Now she could return the favor.

She spread her hands over his chest, brushing her thumbs over his nipples, and he released a rumbling groan.

“If you were naked, I’d be having an even harder time not grabbing your wrists and holding them over your head so I could lick your nipples and work on making you come.”

Her sex squeezed at his explicit words. “Which is why I’m not naked yet.” She inched her way down his body until she was beside his hip. Reaching over, she wrapped her fingers around his cock and pumped her hand a couple of times, causing a white pool of pre-come to settle on top.

She dipped her head and sucked him deep. Despite her claim of wanting control, when he pumped his hips up and down, setting his own rhythm, she allowed him to take what he needed. He continued to thrust upward until her jaw ached and her hand grew damp from working his cock along with her mouth. Without warning, he bucked up and lifted her off him.

She blinked in surprise. “What?”

“I need to be inside you. Now.” Asher rolled to the side, opening the nightstand drawer.

She took the hint and climbed off the bed, quickly undressing, then dropping her clothes and panties on the floor before joining him again.

Next thing she knew, he had her flat on the bed, arms above her head, his big hand grasping her wrists. Just like he’d promised earlier.

She stared into his deep blue eyes as he positioned himself over her and, without waiting, thrust deep. Unlike their first time, Asher wasn’t slow and gentle. The first time together they’d connected on a deep level and now was no different. As if he’d already learned her body, each time he tunneled deep, he took her higher, keeping up a fast rhythm, bringing her close to climax.

“God, Asher. I’m so close.” She tried to move her arms, to touch his sweat-slickened skin, but he held on tight.

Instead of maintaining the hard and fast pace, he slowed down, sliding in and out more slowly. His gaze caught hers, watching each time he slid out and drove back in. The change in speed should have thrown her off, stopped the growing need to come.

But he’d shifted his hips, hitting her in a new spot, the spot. His spot. Once, twice, and she let go, seeing stars as a long, languid climax consumed her. It was perfect. He was perfect. She felt suspended for a long time, her body quaking as he found his own release.

With a groan, he collapsed on top of her, quickly shifting to his elbows and taking his weight off her so she could catch her breath. But their bodies were still connected until he held the edge of the condom and pulled out. The loss she felt was profound as he rose and walked to the bathroom.

When he returned, he climbed back onto the bed and wrapped himself around her once more. Now she felt complete. A shiver of panic followed the thought. She already knew he owned her body. Now she understood. He also owned her soul.

Time passed in sweet, comfortable silence that she didn’t feel compelled to fill with her normal chatter.

Later, before falling asleep, Asher asked her about her talk with Harrison. “I take it everything went well?” His fingers tangled in her hair, the tugging feeling good.

She nodded. “Your brother is a great guy. Look at the favor he’s doing for me. Did you know he’s being interviewed by my journalist neighbor? Her name is Winter Capwell and she’s writing about the female-centric focus of his production company and talking to all the partners.”

“I’m proud of how well their company is doing. Golden Globe and Academy Awards. They deserve the recognition,” Asher said. “He mentioned the interview. I just didn’t realize you knew the woman who’s writing the piece.”

Nikki shrugged. “I don’t know her well. She’s been nice to me and has checked on me throughout this mess.”
