She felt her lips curl in a smile. “Back at you,” she said in a voice that was surprisingly low and husky.

Reaching over, he took her glass from her hand and placed it on the table. He leaned close and brushed her hair off her shoulders.

“Noah.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Relax, pretty girl.” His hand remained resting on her shoulder and he turned his palm toward her face and cupped her cheek. “We’re just going to make out for a while.”

Her stomach did a flip at his softly spoken words. Words meant to seduce and they were doing their job.

Before she could reply, or even gather her thoughts, his lips grazed hers. Once, then again, before he settled his mouth over hers. The kiss started slow, as if meaning to ease her into it, and she went along willingly, moaning as he traced her lips with his tongue.

She settled her hands on his waist and as she did, he slid a hand into her hair, holding her in place as his seduction turned into more. He parted her mouth, his tongue swooped inside, rubbing against hers, and she tumbled into a world where nothing existed but Noah and his talented kiss. Their tongues tangled together, teeth grazing as need grew.

She didn’t know how long they sat making out to the sound of music that suddenly accompanied her to dizzying heights of arousal. How could his kiss make her want so much so fast?

He nipped her bottom lip, the light sting surprising her. Then he soothed the slight pain with his tongue and delved back into the deep recesses of her mouth again and she was lost in sensation once more.

Sometime later, he lifted his head and she realized she lay back against the sofa, Noah’s hard body covering hers, the pressure of his arousal pressing insistently between her thighs.

He stared into her eyes, a true smile on his lips.

“God, you should do that more often,” she murmured.

He raised one eyebrow. “Do what?”

“Smile.” If he hadn’t already mesmerized with that perfect kiss, the further tilt of his lips would have finished the job.

“I save that part of me for people I care about.”

Thump. Thump. Thump. Could he hear her heart beating faster? Because she definitely did.

Was he putting her in that category?

He chuckled but quickly grew more serious. “Yes, that’s what I’m saying.”

“Are you a mind reader now?” she asked on a shaky breath.

He pushed himself to an upright position and extended a hand, helping her sit up. “I already told you, I’m not asking for anything more than seeing where things between us can go.”

He sounded confident they had some kind of future and though she wasn’t ready to consider that, he was being honest.

It was exactly what she needed. “I’m willing to try,” she said, on a relieved exhale.

Not even her bastard ex, who she had thought she’d been stupidly in love with, cared enough to read her so well. She studied Noah’s handsome face, searching for and finding the sincerity in his expression. He was back to stern Noah but not in any way that closed her out.

He rose to his feet and began to gather the dishes and she rushed to stand, not willing to kill the mood further. “Noah, wait.”

He set the plates back on the table.

She wrapped her fingers around his hand, her heart pounding in her chest. “I was thinking I could clean up later. I’d rather go back to where we left off, so I can tell you it was the best kiss I ever had.” She gathered all her courage because she was about to dive into the deep end.

“It was, was it?” Arrogance snuck into his tone but she figured he deserved to gloat.

“Yes. And can I tell you a secret?”

He raised an eyebrow. “I’m listening.”

“I want more of those kisses but not just on my mouth. I need to feel your lips everywhere.”

His gaze darkened and he pulled her against him, treating her to a searing hot kiss. One she wouldn’t stop, nor would she hesitate again.

Tugging his shirt from his pants, she slid her hands up his warm abdomen. “I know what I want, Noah. And it’s you.”

Though Noah found it hard to think with Fallon’s small hands on his body, he needed to be sure she hadn’t talked herself into something she wasn’t ready for.

He understood why she’d panicked earlier. Telling a woman who was skittish about relationships that he cared was akin to lighting a match in a dry forest. He’d seen her expression as panic took hold and there’d been nothing to do except watch her spiral.

“Trust me to know my own mind.” Her words penetrated his thoughts. “And let’s go back to before,” she said, rising onto her tiptoes and brushing her lips over his. “I felt how much you wanted me, and there was never any doubt I wanted you, too.” Her hands splayed over his ribs, her touch arousing. “The bedroom is that way.” She tilted her head and her hair fell over her shoulder as she waited for his answer.
