“Yes,” she said. “More.”

He responded, those gorgeous blue eyes staring into hers until he stilled with a groan, his climax triggering another one of her own.

A few seconds later, he helped her bend her legs and move them onto the floor, dangling off the bed. “Be right back.”

He disappeared into her bathroom and she managed to scoot back on the bed, flopping against the pillows, sated and relaxed.

To her surprise, he returned with a towel and helped her clean up. “You’re the perfect gentleman,” she murmured. No point in thinking of her past when the present was so amazing.

Once he’d settled in bed, she took her turn in the bathroom, glancing in the mirror. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes dilated, and her hair a mess. Only one thing marred the just-been-fucked-in-the-best-way look. The handprint had faded but a red patch remained.

She still couldn’t believe Jeremy had hit her. Thank God Dex had shown up when he had. Later, when the orgasmic haze wore off, she’d think of all the reasons this had been a bad idea, but right now she pushed all heavy thoughts away. She deserved this one night of bliss with the shambles of a life that was waiting for her tomorrow.

She walked out of the bathroom. Dex sat against the headboard, bare-chested with one arm behind his head, looking sexier than ever.

She sat down on the mattress. He immediately pulled her into his arms and she curled around him, resting her head on his shoulder and inhaling his delicious scent. Something about him calmed her.

“That was spectacular,” he said, his voice a low grumble.

She couldn’t contain the pleased smile that came to her lips. “It really was.”

“Thanks again for showing up when I needed you.” She didn’t think she could say that enough.

“No thanks necessary. I’m relieved I was there. But I’m beginning to think I have a sixth sense when it comes to rescuing you, Ms. Dare.”

His finger twisted around a long strand of her hair and she sighed. “I’m grateful but I definitely need to stand up for myself when needed.”

“I know you can handle yourself but give that lawyer a call and see what your options are.”

She nodded. “Creating a hostile work environment for myself and my employees may not be it.”

She believed Jeremy’s slap had startled him enough to prevent it from happening again. Especially at work, but she intended to make sure she was never alone with him.

“Enough talk about your ex,” he said, rolling her onto her back and coming over her, his erection thick against her sex.

“Again?” she asked, surprised.

“Any objections?”

She stared into his gorgeous face and shook her head. “Not one.”

His lips came down on hers and she forgot everything except Dex.

Chapter Eleven

A few days later, Dex met with his old teammate Wes at The Back Door. He decided to ask Remy to sit in, to see if his brother was interested in the clothing business idea. Wes had a sister, Ines, who’d gone viral on social media with her designs and together, the four of them had agreed to make the concept a reality. Lawyers would have to get involved but for today, they had a handshake start to the deal.

After Wes and Ines left, Dex joined Remy in his office so they could talk. Each sat in the chairs across from the desk, side by side.

His brother turned his way. “What’s got you in such a good mood?” Remy asked. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’d just gotten laid.”

Dex cocked an eyebrow. “What the fuck does that mean? I can get a woman if I wanted to.”

Remy smirked. “No kidding but for the last I don’t know how long, nobody’s interested you.”

“Maybe I’ve just gotten more selective in my old age.”

Considering they both recently turned thirty-one, Remy burst out laughing. “Okay, since you aren’t going to offer up information, I’ll just ask. Is Samantha the reason for that perpetual grin on your face?”

Dex took a long sip of his beer, deciding whether or not he wanted to get into his personal life here and now. Before he could reply, his cell rang.

A glance told him it was a FaceTime call and the caller was Ian Dare. “Aah, shit. I have to take this.”

“I’ll go find my wife and catch up with you before you leave.” Remy pushed back his chair and rose to his feet.

Once alone, he swiped his phone. “Ian. To what do I owe the pleasure?” Dex asked.

Ian’s face showed on the screen. He’d obviously returned home to Miami and was at work, as Dex recognized the renovated stadium photo on the wall behind the man’s desk.

“I just hung up with my sister.”

Which could mean he wanted to speak about any number of things. “And?” Dex didn’t typically play coy but no point in showing his hand before he had to.
