“Yes.”
He brushed her hair back from her face with his free hand. “Why don’t you lie down? Tomorrow we can spend the day on the beach. If you want to talk, we’ll talk. If you’d rather relax in silence, that’s okay, too. But I do have one question.”
She glanced up at him and raised her eyebrows.
“Have you been to a doctor?”
She shook her head. “Not yet.”
“Then that’s the first thing on the agenda when we get back. Can we agree on that?”
Her fingers curled into the bedspread. “Yes. We’re agreed.”
He relaxed, knowing she’d be taken care of. “Now for however long we stay in paradise, we enjoy.”
Chapter Nine
Jade had agreed to spend three days on the island and during their time there, he learned more about her. She loved the beach and curling her toes in the sand. She preferred the shade of an umbrella to direct sunlight beating down on her skin. He already knew her choice of reading was romance, because she loved the fact that the right couple ended up together, something that gave him hope. Jade might claim to be finished with relationships, but she was a woman who longed for her own happily-ever-after. And Knox wanted to give it to her.
While she’d napped on the lounge earlier—a double lounger that had miraculously shown up his second day here—he thought about what he could do to make their last night special. Thanks to her pregnancy, fish had been off the menu since he’d arrived. She couldn’t look at it without getting sick. They’d had their share of chicken and steak, and he doubted she wanted to go to a restaurant where she might or might not enjoy the meal or need to excuse herself suddenly.
He’d noted that she did well when she ate carbs, so he asked the chef to make them waffles for dinner. Afterwards, he’d give her the choice of driving into Eleuthera to walk around or going downstairs to the home theater and watching a movie. Since Asher’s villa felt like it existed on an island of its own, it was hard to remember there was another world with restaurants, stores, hotels, and people less than five miles away.
What Knox came up with might not be an expensive dinner out but at least he’d taken Jade’s needs into consideration. From what she’d told him, that was something neither Theo nor her previous ex had ever done.
He lay back in his chaise and glanced over. Jade was still asleep, her lips slightly parted. A drop of sweat glistened on her chest, and he watched as it dripped into her cleavage displayed by the bikini he’d cajoled her into wearing again. He shifted in his seat, but his erection wouldn’t let him get comfortable and he groaned.
At the unintentional sound, her eyelids fluttered open and her gaze met his. She blinked and pushed herself to a sitting position. “Oh, wow. How long did I sleep?”
“An hour. Are you thirsty? Someone brought out some ice, bottled sodas, and water.” Asher had an excellent staff, and Knox had no doubt it was because he treated them well.
She nodded. “Some water would be great.”
He scooped some ice, then poured water into a plastic cup and handed it to Jade. She took a long sip and let out a moan. “That’s so good.” She placed the cup against her chest, no doubt to cool herself off.
“You’re killing me here.” He adjusted himself without shame.
When they’d decided to stay on the island, they hadn’t discussed sleeping together. But they’d climbed into the same bed that night. She’d fallen asleep first, and when he woke up, she was wrapped around him, her nipples pressed against his chest, her sex rubbing against his cock.
Their eyes had locked and they’d silently agreed as to what came next. Once they’d undressed, she looked up at him with trust in her eyes and told him they didn’t need condoms if he was sure he was clean. She’d been tested after Theo, and she hadn’t been with anyone since. Except him. Knox had had a recent physical. She believed him and he knew what that trust cost her to give. It meant everything to him.
“Is something bothering you?” she asked with a smile lifting her lips.
Her flirty tone boded well for him. “I take it you’re feeling okay?”
She rose and straddled him on the chair. “I am and I plan on taking advantage of the moment.”
He grasped her hips, pushing her onto his dick.
“Mmm.” She rocked against him, and he held on to her waist as she picked up a rhythm that worked for her.
He gritted his teeth and held back the need to rip off their clothes or thrust up and take his own pleasure. He needed to watch her own hers first. She was so damned sexy, taking what she needed until her orgasm hit. She threw her head back and rode him, grinding herself against him, his name on her lips.
