“I hadn’t thought about it either.” He released her hair and began to trail his finger down her nose, over her cheeks, and around her jaw, tracing her features. “And I have plenty of thoughts about touring, not touring, and the future, but let’s stay focused on this first.”

His hand moved from her face and his big palm splayed over her belly. “I wouldn’t mind a little mini-you running around,” he mused. “A little girl with blonde hair and green eyes.”

Her stomach flipped at his words, her heart swelling with emotion at the all-encompassing way he stared at her. “It could be a boy who looks like you. More likely, a baby would be a mix of us both.”

“Mmm. We’ll just have to keep going until we have a full band,” he said, causing her to laugh.

She placed her hand on his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart. “Does this mean we’ll see what happens with this oops? Or are we really going to try?” she asked, holding her breath. Because now that they’d talked about kids, she wanted their child more than anything.

A wicked sparkle lit his gaze. “Considering trying means I get to come inside you bare, I’m all for that.” His amused, sexy smile showed off his dimples.

“Dash!” She gave him a playful slap on his arm.

He shook his head, his expression sobering. “I shouldn’t joke about something so important. I want a family with you more than anything.” He rolled her over and kissed her for a good, long while.

When he broke their connection and came up for air, she dove back into their conversation. “I need to be clear about something.”

“What is it?”

She looked into his eyes. “I’m not asking you to stop touring.” It wasn’t her place to ask him to give up something that filled his soul. “And I’m not suggesting I give up the job I love, but for me, I’m sure there’s a happy medium. I like finding scripts a lot more than I enjoy producing and dealing with cranky actors and problems on set.” Something she’d be talking to Sasha about soon.

He laughed. “So do that. All I want is for you to be happy. If that means you want to continue producing, I’ll be behind you. But if it’s not making you happy then I’m all for a change.”

“And I want to be able to meet you in various cities next time the band is on the road.”

“Sunshine, listen,” he said, cupping her face in his hand. “I was miserable on tour and I want to change things up, too. I need and want to be home as much as you need and want me here. Especially if we’re going to have a baby. There’s no way I’m missing one second of that or leaving you pregnant and alone.”

“Really?” Nothing would make her happier, not that she’d admit as much. He needed his freedom to travel and create.

“Hand to God,” he said, raising his palm in the air. “Now that we’ve settled everything, let’s get down to business.”

She wrinkled her nose, confused. “What?”

He pushed himself up and off the bed and immediately began to strip off his clothes. She was torn between watching him reveal that lean, sexy body and getting herself naked, too.

He clapped his hands, startling her out of her staring. “What are you waiting for? Strip!”

Laughing, she undid her jeans and wriggled out of her clothes, tossing them into a pile on the floor. Once she finished, he dove onto the bed. He slid a finger between her folds and groaned when he found her wet for him.

An instant later, he slid inside her and the rest of the world fell away. She moaned and captured his lips in a long kiss before lifting her head and staring into his eyes. “What are you waiting for? Let’s start making a baby.”

He grinned. “Sounds like the perfect plan to me,” he said, and began to thrust into her, hard and deep.

And when he came, after he made sure she climaxed not once but twice, he buried himself inside her and stayed, their bodies joined just like their hearts.

Epilogue

Although she’d never know for certain, Cassidy was confident she’d gotten pregnant when the condom had broken in the hotel room. She was a big believer in fate and felt sure that little oops had led to this moment.

The doctor squirted gel on her belly and ran the ultrasound wand over her skin. Soon, the whoosh-whoosh of their baby’s heartbeat sounded in the room, and Dash pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Never gets old,” he whispered at the proof their baby was safe inside her.

She smiled, a tear falling down her cheek. “Yeah.”

The doctor did her thing, clicking and taking measurements. “Everything looks perfect,” she said at last. “Have you changed your minds? Do you want to know the sex?” she asked.
