“That’s quite a present.”

Startled once again by Drew’s deep, husky drawl, Georgia immediately dropped the nightie back into the box, certain he’d seen all the other goodies inside since he was now standing close by. Mortification rushed through her.

“Yeah, my sister is such a jokester,” she said, putting the lid back on top and stuffing the box back into her luggage, doing her best to avoid eye contact with Drew. “I think I could use that glass of wine right about now.”

He chuckled, the sound filled with amusement. “Put on your swimsuit and meet me at the hot tub,” he said, and to her immense relief he walked back out of the room without saying anything more, thank God.

She clipped her hair on top of her head to keep it from getting wet and quickly changed into her bikini, a rather modest two-piece that kept her full breasts decently concealed, and high-waisted bottoms that covered her ass and the part of her stomach she liked the least. But it didn’t matter how demure her choice of swimwear was, because as soon as she walked out back and Drew turned to look at her, she felt bare and exposed.

He stood by the side of the tub, two glasses of wine sitting on the rim along with the half empty bottle, and he didn’t bother to hide his desire as his hooded gaze raked down the length of her like a heated caress. She shivered—and not from the cool night air brushing over her skin—and her nipples tightened into hard peaks against the thin fabric of her bikini top.

He noticed, his eyes lingering on her breasts before finally lifting to her face. He ran his tongue along his bottom lip as if he were hungry to taste her, and she fervently wished that mouth of his was sliding across her bare skin. He made her feel sexy and desirable, and confident, and she embraced the sensations.

And because turnabout’s fair play and she was feeling a little daring herself, she let her own eyes take in his half naked body—from his broad shoulders down to his muscular chest, then along his firm, toned abs to the waistband of his swim trunks sitting low on his lean hips. He was in great shape, and when her gaze dropped a little lower and she saw the impressive outline of his cock against the front of his swim shorts, she bit her bottom lip.

“Stop staring at me like that,” he growled, the dark, dangerous tone of his voice making her shiver.

She brought her eyes back up to his and smiled flirtatiously. “You started it.”

He narrowed his gaze, trying to appear stern, but the playful smile tugging on his lips gave him away. “Even if I did, you’re tempting me to say fuck being a gentleman and instead trace your gorgeous curves with my hands, followed by my mouth, then my tongue. Preferably while you’re naked.”

Her breath caught, and before she could stop herself, the truth spilled out of her in a sassy retort. “Maybe I want you to.”

Both of his brows rose as she strolled over to where he was standing by the stairs leading up to the hot tub. Just as she started up the first one, he smacked her on the ass with his hand, just enough to sting and make her gasp in shock.

She stopped and stared at him with wide eyes, though she hadn’t found the swat unpleasant at all, but rather…arousing. “What was that for?”

He burned her with a hot, possessive look. “Don’t make promises you don’t intend to keep.”

“Duly noted,” she whispered, even knowing she was going to take her sister’s advice and go for it with this man. She had nothing to lose and everything to gain in terms of pleasure and the kind of heady passion she’d yet to experience.

They settled into the hot tub next to each other with glasses of wine while Drew regaled her with amusing childhood stories about the pranks he and his siblings pulled on one another and their fun times at the cabin, most of which made her laugh. Other than losing his sister as a teenager, his upbringing seemed so normal and carefree, which she envied.

It also made her realize she didn’t have these kinds of lighthearted stories to share in return. Which made her incredibly sad.

“I wish I had that kind of carefree youth,” she said softly, the glass of wine having not only relaxed her body, but her mind, too. “Being the oldest, I was always expected to be on my best behavior at all times, conforming to my parents’ rules and trying to fulfill their expectations of what they wanted me to be. That whole oldest child syndrome.”

“And your sister?” he asked, setting his empty wineglass at the corner of the tub, along with hers, while bubbles and steam rose from the heated, churning water around them. “Were the same things expected of her?”
