Wanting a distraction from those troubling thoughts, he pushed away from the doorframe and angled his head toward the back of the cabin. “Come on. There’s something else I want to show you.”

She followed him out a back door, which led to a large deck with a wood burning firepit table, and cushioned chairs and lounge seats that had been cleaned and set out for the weekend. Beneath an enclosed cedar gazebo was a hot tub that was currently covered. He turned on a switch, and the string of lights overhead lit up, giving the enclosure a more romantic ambiance.

“I had the management company clean out the hot tub and fill it with fresh water. Since it’s still fairly early, care to relax and unwind in the hot tub with a glass of wine?”

She nodded enthusiastically. “That sounds amazing. I brought a swimsuit like you suggested.”

“Bummer.” He gave her a wicked grin as he removed the cover on the spa and then fired up the jets to get the water heating. “I was hoping you’d forgotten, and we could skinny dip.”

Even with just the string of lights overhead, he could see the blush rise on her cheeks. “Umm, yeah…I think I need to work up to that.”

He chuckled. “Fair enough.”

He watched her head back inside the cabin while he made sure everything was in working order with the hot tub, well aware that seeing Georgia in a clinging bathing suit was going to be just as torturous—as well as a testament to just how strong his restraint truly was.

Chapter Seven

Georgia’s suitcase was still in the living room where Drew had left it when they’d walked into the cabin, and since she was unsure where he planned for her to sleep, she waited for him to finish setting up the hot tub outside and join her. Which gave her way too much time to think about her heartbreaking conversation with him about his sister…and the subtle warning he’d given her about not having the time to give to a committed relationship.

At least, that’s how his comment had come across, as a way of cautioning her not to read into this weekend with him as anything more than a birthday gift.

Good to know where things stood, she thought, staring out the front window of the cabin to the darkness beyond. She appreciated his honesty, even if she did feel a twinge of disappointment. But at least she now knew to temper her expectations and just enjoy her time with Drew for what it was. A sexy, fun weekend fling.

Definitely sexy. Drew had certainly given off those seductive vibes when he’d suggested they skinny dip, and a part of her was tempted to throw caution to the wind and do just that…

“Is everything okay?”

Georgia jumped at the sound of Drew’s deep voice behind her, her heart jolting in her chest. She’d been so immersed in her thoughts that she hadn’t heard him come back inside. She turned around, gathered her composure, and nodded.

“I wasn’t sure which room you wanted me to use,” she said. “Where would you like me to sleep?”

Something hot and sinful smoldered in his green eyes, and she could easily guess the answers filling his mind…in his bed…beneath him…with his cock nestled between her thighs. Or maybe those were her own fantasies playing out in her head.

Finally, he said, “You can have the main bedroom. I’ll take one of the bunk beds.”

She suddenly realized how ridiculous and uncomfortable that would be, his tall, broad frame unable to truly fit on a short, narrow, twin-size mattress. She shook her head. “You know what, I’ll take one of the bunk beds.”

“Not negotiable,” he said, smiling as he picked up her luggage and headed toward the larger room, forcing her to follow. “It’s your birthday, and I insist.”

“Okay.”

“I’ll be back in a few minutes,” he said after placing her suitcase on the bed. “I’m going to go change into my swim shorts.”

Once he was gone, she unzipped her bag and dug through the contents to search for her swimsuit. She found the two separate pieces just as she came across the gift that Courtney had given her earlier that day. She pulled out the wrapped box, and with curiosity getting the best of her, she set her bikini aside and ripped off the paper and opened the present.

A small note card sat on top of the folded pink tissue, which read, Don’t waste this chance to go for it…

Such simple words, but with so much meaning coming from her sister. Tentatively, she pulled back the tissue paper and felt her face heat and her stomach flip as she took in the assortment of erotic items: a silk blindfold mask, fur-lined handcuffs, and a feather tickler. In addition to those toys was something red, sheer, and lacy, and she lifted up the lingerie to see a provocative babydoll nightie and matching panties, whose sole purpose was to tease and entice.
