Lust surged through his veins as he continued to kiss her hungrily, and he reveled in her unbridled response as their mouths consumed each other. He was immediately addicted to her taste, and he wanted more. She swayed toward him, equally greedy, in a way that hinted at a very sensual creature lurking beneath the surface of her demure, composed personality.

His cock hardened as he thought of all things he’d love to do to her, just to hear her beg as he sucked her nipples, or watch her unravel as he used his mouth, tongue, and fingers between her thighs until she was shaking and wrung out from multiple orgasms before burying himself to the hilt inside her soft, warm body.

He wanted all that with Georgia, and so much more.

He had to force himself to slow things down, and when he finally lifted his lips from hers, she made a soft sound of protest that made him grin.

Still holding her face in his hands, her lashes fluttered open, and she looked up at him, all the earlier misgivings he’d seen etched across her expression now gone. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips swollen from his kisses, and her eyes glimmered with pleasure.

In that moment, he knew he wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to spend a weekend with her. He told himself the purpose would be to attempt to dilute this intense attraction between them but even he knew deep down, he was lying. He’d never get enough.

She exhaled a delicate breath, the corner of her mouth curving up in a soft smile. “That was, um, some message.”

He chuckled and pressed his forehead to hers. “I was an idiot that night. I thought I was doing the right thing by walking away, but the truth is, I haven’t been able to get you out of my head.”

She tipped her head slightly. “What do you mean by ‘the right thing’?”

Releasing a deep breath, he stroked his thumb along her jaw. The situation with Elliott was complicated and Drew had no desire to talk about the other man and all the bad history between them. Not when the time he had with Georgia was undoubtedly limited. He’d yet to make a firm decision about taking on the European client, but he was leaning in that direction. How could he not? But once he accepted his boss’s offer, he’d have very little time to spend with Georgia.

“It doesn’t matter,” he said. “But you do. If next weekend is your birthday, then let’s go somewhere, celebrate and have fun, just the two of us. We could get to know one another better under more casual circumstances. Share a few more of those hot kisses…and maybe other things.”

Yeah, he was being presumptuous, but the flash of desire in her eyes told him that they were on the same page.

“I’d like that,” she said breathlessly.

Relief and elation surged through him. “I just need to clear my calendar and check in with my boss. Make sure my assistant is up to speed on my open cases, should something come up.”

She bit her bottom lip—not anxiously this time, but seductively. “So, where should we go?”

He thought of all the possibilities, but already knew where he wanted to take her—somewhere personal and special. Most women he knew or dated would expect a lavish, extravagant time—and he could certainly afford to give Georgia the same—but he had a feeling she’d appreciate a more thoughtful and sincere choice instead.

“Why don’t you leave that up to me as a surprise?” he said.

Excitement lit her eyes. “Okay,” she whispered, and he couldn’t resist kissing her again. This time slower and softer and more seductive.

He couldn’t wait to get her alone and all to himself.

Chapter Six

The following Friday, Georgia left work early to head home and pack for her birthday weekend with Drew, unable to contain her excitement for whatever lay ahead.

It had seemed like the longest week ever—her thoughts consumed with Drew, the seductive kiss they’d shared at the charity event that proved their mutual attraction was real, and the random texts he’d sent her over the past few days that ranged from sweet, to amusing, to flirtatious. Whatever had held him back from pursuing her at the Leadership in Law banquet was gone.

She’d been floating on a high, smiling so much that Billie and Aurora had commented on her perma-grin and the reason for it since they both knew the story about Courtney’s unconventional birthday gift.

She arrived at her apartment, and just as she retrieved her small suitcase and set it on her bed to pack, a brisk knock sounded at her door. She checked the peephole, and seeing her sister standing on the other side, she let Courtney in.

“What are you doing here?” Georgia asked in surprise.

Her sister held out a flat, rectangular box that was wrapped in festive birthday paper with a bow on top. “I wanted to drop this off before you left since I won’t be seeing you for your birthday tomorrow.”
