The apartments themselves varied from six-hundred to twelve-hundred square feet, but Nyx had one of the smaller models, living alone.

There were hints of the streamlined builder-grade touches. Like the straight kitchen toward the back wall with its fake wood cabinets in stark white with matching appliances and subway tile backsplash.

Other than that sort of thing, though, the space was pure Nyx.

I’d spent a weekend with her putting up the board and batten on the walls in the common area, then painting the lower part a deep charcoal gray, and putting up peel and stick wallpaper on the top section that had this dark, moody, botanical print.

Her living room sported a thrifted green velvet sofa, two armchairs that she had reupholstered in a black material, a scuffed black coffee table, and an entertainment system.

She had a two-seater dining set near the kitchen since she didn’t usually host much because her hours were so wonky at work.

“Come on. Let’s get you in the shower,” Nyx said, leading me down the hallway and into the bathroom, turning on the shower for me. “That fucking bastard,” she hissed, shaking her head. “I’m almost mad Jass shot him because I would have liked to get a couple blows in,” she prattled on as she gathered towels and washcloths for me. “Sorry. I shouldn’t even be talking about it. Your shoulder and ribs hurt, right?”

“Yeah,” I admitted.

After the adrenaline started to wane, the pain was really starting to settle in.

“How about I cut you out of that shirt then?” she said, going into her cabinet to draw out some big, heavy shears. “It’s ruined anyway,” she reasoned, going to work on getting me out of it. “Don’t worry,” she said when she went behind me to work my bra clasps free, “I’ve tried being with a girl. It wasn’t for me,” she joked, pulling off my bra, then helping me out of my pants and panties. “Okay. Hop in. Rinse off. I will grab you some clothes.”

“What are you doing?” I hissed when the shower curtain pulled to the side a few minutes later, and it wasn’t Nyx there, but Jass.

“Don’t worry,” he said, giving me a soft smile that didn’t take the edge off the hunger in his eyes. “Nyx sent Eoin and Sean out to get food. Cillian and Conor are going to rifle through that fucker’s apartment. We have a couple of minutes. I’m not here to try to fuck you. There’s plenty of time for that in the future.”

“Well, if you’re not going to… do that… can you wash my hair for me?” I asked. “I tried to do it but raising my arms hurts too much. I can call Nyx if—“ I started, but he was already stripping out of his clothes, then stepping inside with me.

Moving in behind me, he grabbed the shampoo and started working it into my hair, his fingers scrubbing at my scalp, a sensation that was both relaxing and exciting all at once.

It was over too soon and Jass was stepping out to dry off, then help me do the same.

“You don’t smell like you,” he said as he leaned me against the sink vanity, wrapped in one of Nyx’s lush bath blankets.

Nyx preferred spicy, almost masculine scents to her bath products.

“Bet you still taste like you, though,” he said, down on his knees in front of me, drying off my legs.

Or, at least, he was doing that.

Until he wasn’t.

Because he was slipping between the part of the towel, coaxing my thighs just far enough apart to make room for his head, then gliding his tongue up my cleft to find my clit.

He didn’t tease or attempt to draw it out, both of us all-too-aware that my brothers could return at any given moment.

He circled my clit and thrust his fingers inside of me, engaging my G-spot, driving me up and throwing me over the edge before I had a chance to prepare, leaving me trembling and weak as he got back to his feet.

After that, he helped me into one of Nyx’s silk pajama sets with the button-up front, and even helped me brush out my hair, but left the braiding of it to Nyx who brought him in a men’s shirt to change into since Pat’s blood and my dirt had ruined his other one.

I wanted to ask whose shirt it was. But then my brothers were back with the food.

I was more tired than hungry, but choked down some food to placate them, but also to have something in my stomach for the pain pill that everyone wanted me to take to settle down on.

Cillian and Conor were absent for an increasingly alarming amount of time, coming in when I was starting to nod off on the couch seated next to Jass.

The looks on their faces let everyone know that they’d found something at Patrick’s place that had upset them.
