“If you could have one wish for the new year, what would it be?” I ask Rogue as I run my hand up his chest. It’s New Year’s Eve, which means we’ve been married just a week. It’s been the best week of my life. I can’t stop smiling.

“I got everything I could have wished for when I married my beautiful wife,” he says. We’re lying together in front of the living room fireplace. Our chests are still heaving from our earlier activities.

I roll my eyes, but I’m secretly delighted by his words. “How long are you going to keep that mushy stuff up?”

He chuckles and cups my face. “For the rest of our lives. Now what would your one wish for the new year be?”

I don’t even hesitate. “I’d wish every day could be just like this one.”

We spent the day in his workshop. He partitioned off an area for me to work on my dollhouses while he puttered around, fixing one of his bikes. In between his projects, we kissed and teased each other, filling the space with our love. When it grew dark, we went inside for a long, hot shower and another one of his delicious casseroles. We spent the night in front of the fireplace making love and talking.

Tomorrow, I’m going to let Hale know that I’ll be breaking the lease on my apartment and moving all of my stuff to Rogue’s place.

“Every day could be just like this one,” Rogue says. “Quit your job, and I’ll quit mine. We’ll never have to leave the cabin again.”

“You’d get sick of me.”

“Never,” he answers fiercely and rolls on top of me, his body caging me in. His cock brushes my swollen folds. Even though I just had him, more moisture gushes from my channel. I’ll never get tired of having this man in me, or the way he looks at me like I’m the center of his whole world.

“You’re my best friend and my wife,” he tells me as his cock nudges my entrance.

“Fuck me, husband.”

Rogue doesn’t have to be told twice. He pushes into my body and makes love to me again at a slow, unhurried pace.

I love it when he’s on top of me, panting in my ear, “You spread these legs so good, princess. Make your man feel like a damn king.”

“You are my king,” I hiss as he plows into me again and again.

“And don’t you ever forget it,” he says as he smacks my pussy.

I come with a shriek of surprise and pleasure blending together. Rogue follows after me, emptying himself deep into my body all over again.

When it’s over, he pulls out of my body and tugs me into arms. My back is resting against his chest, and his back is to the fireplace. I love the way the gold hues dance across his arms. I trace them with my fingertips and whisper, “Thank you.”

He chuckles. “You don’t ever have to thank me for fucking you.”

I giggle. “No, thank you for kidnapping me.”

I don’t know how Rogue knew that I was lonely, but I’m so glad he did. He pulled me out of the cold and surrounded me with his warmth and love.

EPILOGUE

SUSIE

“I’m too young to be playing Mrs. Claus,” I complain as I shove my hair beneath the gray wig. I put a red cap over it and frown at my reflection in the mirror.

“You’re the cutest Mrs. Claus I’ve ever seen,” Rogue says and kisses the tip of my nose. “Now come on so we’re not late.”

He hands me my bright red motorcycle helmet, the one that says Mrs. Claus on it. It was a gift he got me for my birthday, and it made me smile.

I take the helmet, feeling my stomach flip. I still haven’t told him what I discovered this morning. In my defense, I was with Mackenzie when I found out, and Rogue has been working all day around town. We just now had time to get ready before we’re supposed to rush to the annual Christmas charity event.

“I’m not really in the mood for the bike,” I tell him.

He frowns, and I see the worry lines that mar his face. “Have you been queasy again?”

He puts a hand to my forehead. I feel bad making him worry, but there’s no way we’ll leave on time if I tell him the news now. “I made an appointment to see Dr. Cash next week.”

“We can skip this if you want,” he offers. “I’ll call up Hale and tell him he owes me one.”

I chuckle. Because of his sneaky tactics, I ended up married to my hunky mountain man on Christmas Day, so I can’t really complain about Hale. “I want to go,” I tell him. I mean it, too. There’s nothing I’d rather do than go back to that place where our lives changed a year ago.
