I had bought her a dresser, but if this tiny bag is all she has in the world, she won’t fill a single drawer. I want to take her shopping. I want her to have everything she’s ever desired and then some. I meant what I said when I said that I wanted to take care of her. She’s mine now. God gave her to me, and I mean to keep her.

Moving to the dresser, I set her bag down and open it. All that is inside is a Bible, three dresses, and four plain bras and four pairs of white cotton panties… Those panties shouldn’t be so fucking sexy, but they are. I place her undergarments in the top right-hand drawer of the dresser. I take her bag into the closet, hang up the dresses on her side of the closet, and store the bag. Bible in hand, I walk back out into the bedroom and place the Good Book on her nightstand. I’m just setting it down when the bedroom door opens again. I turn to find Sadie standing there. The hall light is backlit behind her. She looks like a freaking angel.

“Jasper?” she asks, staying in the doorway. She looks like she’s been crying, and I hate that I caused that. That is not what I wanted for our wedding night.

“Sadie?” I ask, suddenly nervous as hell that she’s going to ask for a divorce already. I haven’t even told my parents or my brother that I got married but I can’t let her leave me. I know that I’m meant to be her husband. I was born to love her, and I intend to do just that. She can’t leave me; I don’t think I’d survive it. What has she done to me?

“I’m sorry. My nerves got the best of me,” she says, twisting her hands in front of her. It seems like her nerves have still got a hold over her.

“You don’t have to apologize to me, Sadie baby. This is your home now. You should sleep wherever you feel comfortable.”

“I… I want that to be with you,” she replies causing me to smile and move closer to her. I must have already started doing that because I’m touching her before I know it.

“Do you know how beautiful you are?” I ask.

“No. No one has ever told me that before. The Amish don’t value that. My sister’s may have said I was pretty, but that’s not the same. It certainly didn’t feel the same as when you said I was beautiful.” She shivers under my touch.

“You don’t have to be scared of me. I won’t hurt you and we'll move at your pace, but I will do everything in my power to win you over.”

“Like what?” she asks.

“For starters, I do believe I owe you a kiss.”

“A kiss?”

“Yes, a kiss. The kiss I didn’t feel right giving you at a church full of people. Can I kiss you now, wife?” I ask, desperate to taste her in some way.

“Yes,” she whispers and licks her lips. I groan and lower my head to hers. At first, my lips barely touch hers. That barely their touch sends electric shocks all through my body. I linger, learning her lips. My hands grip her hips, squeezing. She’s rigid but quickly relaxes as I continue to kiss her. Finally, her hands fist in the front of my shirt and she kisses me back. I’m already addicted to her kisses. I could kiss this girl forever and I can’t believe that I actually get to do that. I get to kiss her whenever the fuck I want to, and I plan to.

She has to feel this energy, this heat between us. She may not understand it, but she has to feel something. I feel more alive than I ever have, yet I also feel so close to death, it doesn’t make sense.

My hands move and cup her ass. She whimpers and her mouth opens, I take the opportunity to sweep my tongue into her mouth, tasting the buttercream frosting from our wedding cake.

Without words, I lift her up into my arms and carry her to our bed. She stiffens as I lay her down and move onto the bed beside her. I wish there was something other than time and her getting used to me that would make her fully relax. I’ll wait however long it takes. She’s worth it.

“Nothing beyond this is going to happen tonight. However, I am going to kiss you until the sun comes up. You are going to be so addicted to my kisses, Sadie. You won’t be able to exist without them and neither will I. You have no idea how good we are going to be together.”

“What if I’m already addicted?” she asks, gripping my shirt.
