Once I get into my apartment, I stop with my mouth hanging wide open. There’s stuff everywhere. I can’t say I’ve been robbed because I can’t tell if anything is missing. It looks like my room just exploded with everything in it.
Without even thinking, I walk back out. I’ll go to my dad’s. That’s where I’ll go. I almost make it to my car when I’m stopped by an arm slamming my door shut before I can get in it. I don’t even have to turn to know who it is. I can smell that it’s Crater. “What do you want?” I ask him.
He pushes against me and the front of my body slams into the side of the car. He’s holding me there with his body. I want to scream, I want to fight, but fear has taken a hold of me, and I can’t move.
“I told you that I was coming for you, and now that I have you, I’ll do whatever I want to with you. You’re mine now,” he snarls in my ear.
I force my body to relax against him and it has the right effect. His hold softens and when it does, I rear my head back as hard as I can and hit him in the temple. As soon as he releases me, I run into the street just as a bunch of motorcycles and a few trucks are speeding toward me. At first, I think it could be the Fallen Kings, but as soon as I see Iron, I drop to my knees and point behind me.
Iron runs for me and the rest of the Guardians run toward Crater. I hate Josh right now, but still when Crater had me, all I could do was wish I was with Josh. So I let him circle his arms around me. We don’t talk. We don’t do anything. He just holds me.
The battle is anticlimactic since there’s so many of us and only one of Crater. It seems his club has deserted him.
Sniper and Rancher haul Crater to the back of one of the trucks. Sniper walks toward us, and I pull myself from Josh’s arms as he stops beside us. “We’ll take care of the trash. You have some fences to mend, brother.”

When I turn to Maddy to see if she’s all right, I’m surprised at her angry stance. Her arms are crossed over her chest, and she has a scowl on her face.
“What’s wrong? Are you hurt?”
“I saw you with that woman. You said you were mine. I guess you meant until you got tired of me.”
I take a step toward her, and she steps back. I hold my hands up to her, face out and take a small step. “Listen, Maddy. The prospect was drunk. He pushed her on me. What you saw was me getting her off me.”
Fire flashes in her eyes. “Right! Do I look stupid?” She puts her hand up. “Wait, don’t answer that because you obviously do think I’m stupid if you think I’m going to believe that.”
She turns to walk away from me, and I jog to catch up with her. “Don’t go in there, the place is a mess. I have someone coming tomorrow to clean it up.”
She shakes her head. “Of course. You knew my apartment was trashed. Why didn’t you tell me? And no, you won’t be having someone clean it up. It’s my apartment, I live here and no one is going to clean it up but me. Man, Josh, I had no idea lying came so easy for you.”
My patience is thin. The girl I love wants to keep fighting with me, and I’m ready to take her to our bed and prove to her exactly how much I love her. “Okay, look, I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to know that Crater broke into your house. I didn’t want you to worry. That’s why I didn’t tell you. But everything else… you being mine, me being yours. Those are honest to goodness facts. I love you, Maddy. Now you can be pissed at what you thought you saw. If it was reversed I would kill a motherfucker, so I get it. But no matter what, I’m not leaving your side. We’ll work through it together.”
She puts her hands on her hips. “Is that all, Iron?”
I know when she calls me by my club name I’m in trouble. “No. That’s not all. I am going to help you clean this mess up because I’m moving in here with you. We’ll have to live somewhere until we buy or build a house. So I’m moving in. We’re getting married and we’re having all the babies.” I let out a big breath. “Now that’s all.”
She looks up at me in shock. “You want to marry me?”
