He moved his hands from her waist and put them over her breasts, gripping them in his hands and pulling her downward onto his cock as he ground his hips up toward her ass and bounced her back up again. He was close, so close, but she wasn’t done just yet. He felt her body shudder, accompanied by something that sounded almost like a growl as she exploded once again against his cock and hesitated for a moment to catch her breath.
Ronan was right there with her, thrusting upward while pulling her back down onto him at the same time until he couldn’t hold back anymore and soaked her insides with the heavy load. They sat there for a moment, his cock slowly deflating inside her before pulling her upward and picking her up, carrying her to bed where he planned to rest for just long enough to start all over again.
He knew, without a doubt, that for the rest of his life, he would never be able to get enough of this woman. He loved everything about her. It was as if their bodies, hearts, and minds were made for one another, and he’d known that from the very first time he’d ever laid eyes on her.
CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
Maeve
“Just leave it to our little brother to wait until he was engaged and expecting a family to finally introduce us to his better half,” one of Ronan’s brothers said as the two of them made their way into a house that looked a bit more like a fortress than a home.
“Don’t mind him,” a woman said from nearby. “Welcome to our home, Maeve. I’m Eimear, and this is my rotten husband, Fergus.”
“Thank you,” Maeve replied, noting the house was awfully quiet and impossibly clean for a couple with kids.
“The kids are at daycare. We thought it might be nice to get to know you without scaring the shit out of you with our hoard on day one,” Fergus told her.
Maeve looked at him curiously and then glanced at Ronan, her question unspoken.
“No, he can’t read your mind. He just knows that all his kids are terrors. They’re fun little bastards, though,” Ronan laughed.
Maeve smiled, not sure how she was supposed to respond. She felt more scared about meeting his family than she had about anything she’d been through before.
“You brutes go to the living room and leave us alone so we can get to know one another before the rest of your awful brood shows up,” Eimear chided them, pulling two beers from the fridge and sitting them on the counter for them to retrieve.
“I can’t believe you let your woman talk to you like that,” Ronan laughed.
“Yeah, you can,” Fergus replied, grabbing their beers and disappearing into the other room.
“Wine?” Eimear asked.
“No,” Maeve replied, waving toward her expanding belly.
“Oh, right. Sorry. Juice? Water?”
“Water is fine,” she replied.
Eimear grabbed a bottle of water and a glass, sitting them both in front of her before pouring herself a glass of wine.
“So, you’re brave enough to marry into this circus, huh?” Eimear asked her.
“I, uh, I’m not so sure now.”
Eimear laughed and took a sip of her wine. “I’m just teasing, hon. Don’t be nervous. They’re a great bunch, but when they all get together, hang on to your fanny. They get pretty rowdy at times.”
“You’re American,” Maeve said, immediately regretting stating the obvious.
“Yes. American and human. I’m the oddball out in the family,” she laughed.
“Then, your children, they have . . .”
“Gifts? Yes, probably. They’re still too young for us to know yet.”
They’d only been talking for a few minutes when the doorbell rang. Eimear went to answer it and returned with two other couples who introduced themselves. There were Olcan and Niamh, followed by Niall and Deirdre. Maeve was surprised that she recognized the two women from home, though she’d not known either of them well.
For whatever reasons, the knowledge that she wasn’t the only one that had come from the clans associated with the Maguires made her feel better, like she wasn’t some sort of reject that Ronan had accepted, but his family might not.
By the end of the evening, you would never have known she was a stranger to them before tonight. The men all regaled them with the awful tales of their childhood while their wives rolled their eyes at the stories they’d no doubt heard a million times before.
“So, our dad comes out, and we’re all in the backyard with the bows and arrows he had given us as presents. Then he realized we were shooting up into the air and letting the arrows come back down toward our target, which was Ronan running around with a garbage can top over his head to catch them,” Fergus laughed.
“He took them away from all of them and even got mine out of my room. He took them all and broke them over his knee and then tossed them in the garbage can before slamming the lid he took away from me down on top of it,” Ronan laughed.
