I was a boneless heap of satisfaction when Nixon finally rolled to the side, pulling me against his chest. “Holy crap, that was amazing.”

“And it’s only going to get better from here now that you’re officially mine.”

Nixon

Ember’s phone woke us a couple of hours after we’d collapsed, too exhausted to do anything but sleep.

She scrambled out of bed and over to her purse to dig it out. “Hello?” The nervous edge to her voice had me climbing out of bed so I could put my arms around her and share my strength. Her mom had been fine when we left, but I knew Ember was still worried that something unexpected would go wrong. I slowly threaded my fingers through her hair, and some of her tension melted away.

“Hey, sweetie.” Her dad spoke loud enough that I could hear their conversation. “They’re discharging your mom early.”

Ember’s shoulder sagged with relief as she leaned into my embrace. “That’s so great, Dad! We’ll be right there.”

“There’s no rush, Em. They’re still getting her paperwork together. Take your time, and we’ll see you when you get here.”

“Okay. Thanks, Daddy. Love you.”

“Love you, too, sweetie.”

Ember hung up, and when she looked at me, her smile was blinding. “Did you hear that?”

“Yeah, baby.” I kissed her forehead and pulled her body flush against mine. “It’s fantastic news.”

“We should get going,” she mumbled, distracted by my hands as they explored her curves, gliding over her sexy birthing hips and down to cup her ass.

“I also heard the part about taking our time,” I purred in her ear, enjoying her quick inhale when I yanked her body tight against mine. “We should probably shower first.”

Ember wiggled a little and smirked when I groaned. “Shower? Is that what they’re calling it these days?”

I laughed and scooped her into my arms, stalking toward the bathroom. “I don’t care what it’s called, as long as it’s you and me together.”

After we’d steamed up the bathroom—with a hard fucking against the wall and a hot shower—we dressed. I called the front desk and extended the reservation for the rest of the week while Ember put a fancy braid in her hair. Then we traipsed back out to the car.

Ember’s mood had become somber by the time we reached the hospital parking garage. So when she went to exit the vehicle after I parked, I clasped her arm to keep her inside. “Tell me what’s wrong, baby. Are you worried about your mom?”

She shook her head and turned sideways so she was facing me. “What happens when we get home? You’ll be traveling, and I’ll have school. I’m just worried that we’ll never see each other.”

I sighed and grasped her waist, hauling her over the console and onto my lap. “Baby, we really have to work on your listening skills.”

Ember raised an eyebrow. “Pardon?”

“If you don’t remember me telling you we’re getting married…I must not have done it right.”

She rolled her eyes and huffed, “I remember you demanding that I marry you, just fine.”

It was my turn to raise an eyebrow. “You seriously think I’m going to let my wife live anywhere but with me?”

“Of course not, but between now and whenever we decide to have a wedding, what—”

“As soon as possible,” I interrupted. “I distinctly recall using those words.”

Ember’s nose scrunched adorably as she glared at me. “Fine. But between now and ‘as soon as possible’—and I intend to have enough time to plan an actual wedding, you caveman—how are we going to balance our schedules?”

“Easy.” I shrugged. “You’ll move in with me.”

Ember gaped at me for a moment. “You can’t just decide I’m moving in with you.”

“How would you know?”

Her lips curved up, and she laughed. “I’m serious, Nixon.”

“So am I. Baby, I don’t intend to sleep without you unless I’m on the road and you aren’t able to come with me. And I’m pretty sure you don’t want me moving into your dorm, so…”

Not that it was ever a possibility, but it was definitely out if we had kids soon. In fact, we probably needed to start shopping for a new apartment. Especially since I’d forgotten to wear a condom every time I fucked her this afternoon. We probably needed to have a talk about that…but I couldn’t say I regretted it. Not just because I loved being inside Ember with nothing between us but also, I couldn’t wait to see her round with our baby. And the thought of sucking on her sweet nipples while they were dripping with milk…I shook off the mental picture before I came in my damn pants. I was starting to think I would never have control over my body when it came to my woman.

“So you’re going to move in with me,” I reiterated.

“Okay,” she replied with a sweet smile.

“Okay?” I asked suspiciously, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
