A few minutes later, I’m dressed and ready to go after slipping on some slacks and a dark grey dress shirt. Maggiano’s doesn’t require a suit jacket, so I don’t bother. I want to be able to sneak touches all night if I can.

When I make it downstairs, they’re waiting for us, giggling about something, and thankfully there’s no tension in their bodies. I’d hate to ruin tonight. Amelia will be in my arms, in my bed, feeling every inch of me as we learn ways to please each other, but first I need to make it through dinner.

Chapter Eight

Amelia

I do my best to hide my blush when I make it downstairs. What I did was new and exciting and oh, so wrong, but when I heard what Theodore said to my mom, I only fell harder for Roman. “He’s seeing a therapist because he cares for Amelia.”

“He’s doing it for her? That’s a huge step.”

“He wants to build trust, but it was beaten down in the most important stage of life.” My mother looks nervous. “Don’t worry, love. Roman’s a good man, a philanthropist and humanitarian, but he’s never allowed anyone to get too personal with him.”

“I hope so. I’d hate to see my baby girl get hurt. I think she’s in love with him.” That’s when I rushed upstairs after swiping my phone off the kitchen counter because I needed to reassure Roman that he can trust me.

I step into the living room only to catch my parents kissing. They quickly pull away and release a sigh. They thought I was Roman. If only they knew what happened a minute ago.

“Hey, sweetie. Everything okay?”

“Yes, everything’s great. You two look very guilty. I won’t tell him you were smooching like high schoolers.”

“Brat. I’ll tell him myself,” Theodore says. “Okay, maybe not.” We all laugh because Roman’s intense and not a huge fan of their relationship.

“Are we ready?” Roman asks, coming into the room, moving right next to me.

“Yes.” I turn around and look at him and nearly swoon. His collar’s open just a bit, sleeves rolled up to show his strong forearms. “Wow, you look handsome,” my mother says. A hint of jealousy passes through me like a fool.

“Thank you, Rachel.” She smiles, pleased with his manners.

They lead the way to the door with Roman behind me. He leans in and whispers, “What do you think, Princess? Will I do?”

I turn my head and reply, “I suppose.” I roll my eyes playfully. He quickly slides his hand around my stomach and pushes me back against him.

“Keep rolling those eyes and I’m going to spank your sexy ass.” He kisses my throat before stepping back. Just then, my parents turn our way. I take a deep breath and follow.

“I’ll drive, Dad.”

“I can do it.”

“I know, but you’ve been driving all day.”

“Okay.” Roman opens the passenger door, and my stepfather nudges me forward. I’m full of excitement, getting to sit in the front passenger seat while our parents slip into the back to cuddle. Frankly, I don’t care what they do because my entire body is hyper-focused on Roman.

The ride to the restaurant is a short one and once we’re parked, Roman grabs my hand to stop me from getting out. “Let me.” Fuck, my pussy throbs like he’s stroking it. I nod and he steps out, opening my door and his father’s. He takes my hand to assist me, and I’m putty in his hands.

“Ready?” Theodore asks. We nod and Roman presses his hand to the small of my back, leading me into the restaurant. It’s subtle, but the effect is anything but. He’s showing all the people watching us that I’m with him. We’re escorted to our table by a woman who happens to be in her twenties and absolutely enticing. Her eyes linger on Roman a little too long for my liking, but then I look at Roman and his attention is laser-focused on my tits.

As he helps me into my chair, he leans in and whispers, “I should have saved some to smear on your chest, so all men know you belong to me.”

I squirm in my seat but remain silent. He sits next to me and smiles broadly at our parents, who are looking at us with a bit more curiosity.

“So have you ever eaten here before?” Roman asks me.

“No, I haven’t, but my mom has.”

“Well, the food, last I remember, is very good.”

“Yes, it is,” Mom says. “You’ll love the pizza.”

“Hello, I’m Lucy. I’ll be your server tonight; can I start you off with something to drink?”

“Princess?” Roman says, waiting for me to go first.

“A mango lemonade, please.”

“That sounds good. I’ll have the same.”

“I’ll take an iced tea,” my mother says.

“I’ll have a water only.”

My stomach growls embarrassingly. “We’ll have an order of breadsticks, please.”

“Thank you.” She leaves us and then I rub my hand over my thighs, hoping my stomach doesn’t start it’s wailing noises again.
